Wolves v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 29.08.23

I was at that game! Was in the home end with a Wolves mate. Had to sit on my hands when Steve Morgan equalised. Andy Mutch in the last minute I seem to remember. I was at Uni around here at the time. Molyneux was rocking every game. A 6-0 win v PKE a particular highlight!

First thing Wellens reminds you of?

He was swapped for Vernon, but Doolan was signed as a direct replacement. Look how well that went...

    Blackpool 2 Port Vale 3 - November 1981

I was in the South too. We'd started the seaon ok winning home games and drawing away games. This was the game that kickstarted a season of mediocrity. Mark's brother was called Neville.

I went. Keigan Parker was just unplayable. Hartlepool fans gave him a nice ovasion when he was subbed off.

Who starts next saturday and system

At home in matches we are expected to do the majority of the attaciking I think it will be 1 cdm similar to yesterday. I think he'd rather have Norburn sitting behind Carey and Morgan, over Norburn and Trybull sitting behind Carey or Morgan. Wing backs are the hardest to call imo. CJ, for me...

    You Never Forget Your First...

Blackpool 0 Portsmouth 0 1975 ish second game Blackpool 1 Sunderland 0. Goal was in the first couple of minutes. My brother, who took me, was late home for work before the game, so we missed the goal. It wasn't until my 3rd game that I actually saw a goal!

    Fancy dress

I was a bit disappointed that the traditional fancy dress for the last home game of the season didn’t happen. The only one I saw was the bloke who walked over towards the Derby fans at the end dressed as Shrek…

    Harry Thomson

Sorry if this was posted before Christmas, but only heard about this today. Alex Ferguson, who was uncapped, went on tour in 1967 and played 4 games for a Scotland representative XI. He played 4 times on this tour but these weren't recognised as full internationals. Fergie had been campaigning...

    Backheel goals...

In all the times I've watched Phil Clarkson's goal again and again and again, I never realised the ref was Mike Dean.

Pool signings you thought would turn out better?

I'll add Keith Walwyn. Prolific, until he came to us. A few Alan Ball signings also spring to mind. Someone already mentioned Willie Morgan. Ted McDougall as well.

Over 5000 Stockport fans at Bolton today……

One of my favourite goals of all time was early 90s v Stockport, think it was 92. One nil up, injury time, Trevor Sinclair took the ball into the corner to waste time. Or so we thought. The two defenders with him were Cruyff turned leaving them on their arses. One perfect cross to the back post...
