Over 5000 Stockport fans at Bolton today……

Will never forgive the cheating bastards for the 2 disallowed goals at Edgeley Park in 96! (?)
Whatever the year was I was definitely there and it was the effing ref who to this day I have never forgiven bearing in mind I have lived in Stockport for the last 44 years😳so that hurt.

I even walked to the ground and back last time we played them🦵🦵...next time it will be a walk to Cheadle Hulme Station and the 4 minute train into Stockport Station and then maybe 10 minutes to Edgeley Park...it is uphill after all😳

I remember a Saturday game at their place on Boxing Day with Ellis as manager and they were in the away end - very entertaining.
can’t remember us ever beating them .

That’s an impressive away support

not into that sort of thing but would have thought it was quite lively on the stretch back to the train station 😎
The gate was only just over 11000.....so near enough a 50/ 50 split...hopefully if it kicked off Bolton got on the wrong end of things.
The borough of a Stockport reportedly has a population of 280,000 and has three and half MP’s,one constituency includes Denton which is Manchester.
They do have some decent support but the suffer from the Man U and Man City effect...the train into Manchester takes no more than 15 minutes and there are plenty of them.
Sincerely hope they give the Horwich Scum a pasting on and off the field in the replay.

We beat them 3-2 in 1991 if my memory serves me correct

Friday night away game, December 1984 it kicked off in a big way. Just had a look in the record and there were only 2,400 there. Plus no police.

I've seen us win quite a few times at Edgely Park - won there last time we played there with a Keigan Parker free-kick. I think Larry score in a 3-1 win the season before.

Got in free in the South Stand for that one. Turned up right at kick off and a copper said "Have you got a ticket?". I was about to pay on the gate and said no.

He'd just confiscated one off a Stockport fan and gave it me.
I think i got freebies from somewhere. I remember sitting in the south which id never done before. Think I only ever did it once after.

I couldn't swear on it but I'm sure there was a group of County fans around us with blue scarves on, which was odd in the south

Stockport county are building something . Ambitious owner that club is rising like a Phoenix from the Ashes

Yeah there was, my Dad was a bit worried as I was 13/14.
Didn’t Ooh Andy Garner score a screamer? Can’t believe we didn’t go up that season

Thought it was 3 disallowed goals 😄, but yes really enjoyed going to Stockport away, even if we never seemed to win there.
Yes me too...hence my tirade at the ref....which for once he definitely heard...and I still maintain his parents weren’t married.
There is a poster on here who to this day reminds me of it.

Remember that night 👍🏼 As we were going back to the coaches after the game the Stockport fans were throwing milk bottles at us at the same time as the milkman was out early trying to collect them 😂😂

Who remembers the £75 all you can eat and drink hospitality offer at Stockport away set up by Martin Booker when he worked there? I think the offer was withdrawn after a visit from Blackpool fans who let’s just say got value for money!

One of my favourite goals of all time was early 90s v Stockport, think it was 92. One nil up, injury time, Trevor Sinclair took the ball into the corner to waste time. Or so we thought. The two defenders with him were Cruyff turned leaving them on their arses. One perfect cross to the back post later and Bamber headed in at the back post to make it 2-0. Anyone else remember it?

Yes! Great bit of skill by Trev.

Blatant dive from Parker to win the free kick too!

There's a video on Youtube from April 1991. We won 3-2. Went a goal down then 3-1 up, and hanging on at the end. Crowd of 8,500

Martonmosser got our equaliser with a nice chip over the keeper and Ooh Andy Garner got the other two. I was in Q Block.

didn't we win in extra time once in the LDV or Sherpa Vans having being battered throughout the 90 mins?

Think that was the game Briggsy had Kevin Francis in his pocket.
can't remember which game it was but we were in the stand where the players come out and they had Francis and Andy Preece up front. Think we might have lost 1-0, can't remember, but at the end of the game I went to the tunnel and as the players were coming off I said to Preece, "you've just met Gary Briggs". He turned round and stared at me and thought better of saying something but he clearly wasnt happy. Briggs had done him off the ball putting him six foot in the air.😄

Another blinder from David Eyres 😀👍🏼 …… he tried his best to copy my curtain hair cut 😂😂

what a night that was, we went on the train with a couple of lads from Hodgsons.
we were stood on benches in the old Cheadle End, it was a great atmosphere in a tiny away stand, one of the lads had some booze confiscated on the way in and was told to collect it after the match so we had to hang around with him whilst he did.

We walked back to the train station on our own and as we walked a group of Stockport followed us and grew in number. iAfter several skirmishes on the way to the station we were holding our own pretty well but when we reached the subway we were attacked from both sides as an earlier bunch of Stockport lads were already at the station gates having followed the bulk of Pool to the station,

All three of us got a good hiding that night and we never received any sympathy of the old bill who believed us to be the protagonists but when we finally made the platform we were treated like returning hero's by the Pool fans on the station.

Never liked Stockport since!
