I've just been watching her taking Scottish questions. Completely on top of her brief, and able to explain what they are doing and why under questioning.
If only we had someone like her in England.
Robbie, we had someone like that who was castigated at the time, has been blamed ever since her tenure for anything that goes wrong, even in today's world and probably will be by some forevermore.
Yes, Margaret Thatcher.
There's your second ton Robbie and I'm off for my shower.
I like her. She stirs up the mysogony gene and winds up the brain dead little Englanders. It's a winner for me
Sunday, Scotland 9628 vaccines, out of a UK wide total of 322,000 because the GP's don't work Sunday's.
On top of her brief indeed...
Heath, surely.Morning Wilf. I don't know when you got so cynical about these matters.
Thatcher, interestingly, was perhaps the most pro-European Prime Minister we have had in my lifetime. She put the EU under tremendous political pressure to reform ; but she knew that for the UK the key to a prosperous future was to be part of it and changing it from within.
She would have had no truck with the intellectually feeble ERG, and she would have made a compelling case for why we should be at the table fighting for our interests in Brussels, rather than shouting the odds from the periphery. Increasingly, these days, we get the politicians we deserve.
There is no reform from within when it comes to the EU. Thatcher did think the EEC could work and could be made to work, but the morphing into the EU and the introduction of QMV allowed it to become an inpositional structure on member states and the resulting problems have been observable ever since.Morning Wilf. I don't know when you got so cynical about these matters.

But she has made a terrible mess here.I'm not altogether surprised that she is resisting the findings of this Committee as it split along more or less party lines. It therefore carries as much objective weight as the verdict (say) on Trump's impeachment.
The independent enquiry is probably the one that counts. And it is a mess. The ramifications if she falls could be enormous, for all of us.
And she is still the most able politician in UK public life, by a long way.
Do you honesty believe that? I'm staggered. And she is still the most able politician in UK public life, by a long way.
Latest poll was only 51% for independence. We have seen how Brexit divided opinion and is still not accepted by some, so not sure it is a good move to have it at the centre of their manifesto or is it just a bargaining position.Sturgeon trying to tough it out this morning as a committee of the Scottish parliament finds her guilty of misleading MSPs.
There is still an independent report compiled by a barrister to come out, she is clinging the hope that it will clear her name.
What a mess.
As stated before, the best chance of an independent Scotland for hundreds of years is being sabotaged before our eyes by Scottish Nationalists.
Considering their policies are all over the place and make no sense at all for the most part....leave EU customs union = disaster, leave UK customs union four times its size in financial benefit terms = master plan : gain independence then give monetary and currency control away again to the EU....etc etc she has to be able .And she is still the most able politician in UK public life, by a long way.
But she has made a terrible mess here.
Her wriggling in this matter, mis-remembering, contradictory accounts all points to a cover up here.
It is very cynical to use an allegation of sexual harassment to nobble a rival, which is what this increasingly looks like. It's an insult to the women who complained for a start. I think she should resign, she will probably have to leave one way or another.
I don't doubt that those are excellent qualities, well suited to high office. But then, so are morality, honesty and sincerity. But I still think she is very able in lots of ways personally. A lot of civil servants would kill for Ministers with her work ethic, attention to detail and ability to marshal an argument.
She doesn't seem to have a very good memory.I don't think anyone at the top of the SNP has covered themselves in glory here. And I certainly don't care for her politics, which as clappers says elsewhere, are based upon very dubious intellectual ground.
But I still think she is very able in lots of ways personally. A lot of civil servants would kill for Ministers with her work ethic, attention to detail and ability to marshal an argument.

Did you listen to her evidence? How can you say that Loco.

The cult of Nicola. No, I refer you to the opening post on this thread.
The cult of Nicola.
Always apologising for her cock ups. There's quite a list now.

Maybe look at her government's record on things like education.Loco
I am not aware of anything that Sturgeon has done today so I can only put her reduced rating down to your arguments.
At 8.39am she was still the most able politician in UK public life by a long way, yet by 12.21am she was not the worst.
To think folk on here get criticised for offering opinion on football matches they didn't attend.
You couldn't make it up.
Maybe look at her government's record on things like education.
Yes, maybe misunderstood.Loco
I'm not sure you understood what I said ?
I said that for some reason Sturgeon had been downrated on here from being the most able politician in UK public life by along may to not the worst in the space of a few hours.
Given that I am not aware of anything - good or bad - that Sturgeon did during this period, I can only think that the dramatic reduction in her rating on here was down to the strength of the argument put forward by your good self.
Yes, maybe misunderstood.
Not at my best today after being jabbed.
Well if they hadn’t got Starmer in charge they would have gone to Labour in the main. He doesn’t exactly resonate man of the people and hasn’t got any prominent heavyweight Scots to send forth on his behalf in his ranks either. If this plays out badly for the SNP, as looks likely, it will be interesting to see where their votes go come May (I think it's May?)
There would be none leftIf she deliberately lied to MSPs she should resign.
Of course that should also apply to any UK ministers who have lied to Parliament.
Thinking that myself, the boot has destroyed Scotland.Do you honesty believe that? I'm staggered.
Gosh, he don't half ramble!! Would love to see the meat of that debunking the allegations of misconduct by Salmond edited and taken up by the National Media. Even I had assumed he was dodgy. Here's a video about the Alex Salmond shenanigans explained by the pro-independence Craig Murray.
Just to add, he attended the first two days of the trial before being charged with contempt of court for reporting on it in his blog.
It's a bit rambling at times so recommend skipping to 5 mins 30 secs.
It's always worth listening to different points of view and you won't find much of this in the MSM.
This is by no means a defence of NS but I suspect AS isn’t beyond reproach.Gosh, he don't half ramble!! Would love to see the meat of that debunking the allegations of misconduct by Salmond edited and taken up by the National Media. Even I had assumed he was dodgy.

He was mainly recounting what happened in AS's trial. It wasn't particularly well reported.Moss
Sorry, just reading my reply back and I probably didn't word it well.
I certainly wasn't having a pop at you and I am not doubting what Mr Murray says, I only said what I did for balance as no doubt some who side with Sturgeon might doubt what he said or certainly wouldn't want him to be judge and jury.
I probably just overdid my original response but I certainly thought what Mr Murray said was very interesting.

Whatever you may think of AS, to continue to smear someone found not guilty of so many charges is surely wrong. Oh, and 1 not proven. No collaboratory evidence either way.
Knocked her under central pier,, Glasgow fairs 79
Very true. But these are Scots, not normal people. (why aren't smilies working?)Well if they hadn’t got Starmer in charge they would have gone to Labour in the main. He doesn’t exactly resonate man of the people and hasn’t got any prominent heavyweight Scots to send forth on his behalf in his ranks either.
Possibly not........Nonce alert.
She was born in 1970.
