Nicola Sturgeon

Saying she intends to publish information about U.K. vaccine supplies that the Government has requested are kept secret!! Potentially putting U.K. vaccine supplies at risk.

What’s that all about?

I would be very concerned for them though if they ever voted for independence with Sturgeon and her nationalists leading them. They are full of hatred and there seems to be little evidence that they know what they are doing.
I've no idea whether any of the rumours circulating re probity are true or not. Obviously if they are that changes a great deal. I'm just saying that - whatever your politics - she comes across as being competent to a high degree, very engaged with the minutae of the challenge that Scotland faces and answers questions directly and in full. At least she did today, anyway. I don't like her much myself. But I respect her abilities. We are crying out for something similar down here.

You would have to be blind to not see the economic mess Scotland is in, with increased debt, lowered educational standards, reduced life expectancy, poor coronavirus figures, disappearing oil revenue and all despite higher funding levels. Whichever figures you choose, Scotland is insolvent. Who on earth would be crying out for something similar in England?

I've just been watching her taking Scottish questions. Completely on top of her brief, and able to explain what they are doing and why under questioning.

If only we had someone like her in England.
Someone who ignores the voice of the people and is doing everything in her power to get another independence vote because it didn’t go in her favour?
Be honest Baz, if we had someone like that would you be happy?
It is identical to all those in our government who demanded a second Brexit vote.
Boris goes up there to try and encourage unity to sort this Covid mess out and she moans that it is not an essential journey.
If he ignored her she would be moaning that he wasn’t interested.
Also, not to forget that she wanted (and maybe still does) to have a checkpoint on the England / Scotland border to stop people from entering the country but is quite happy to let people leave and enter our country.
Cannot stand the poison dwarf.

If she does no other sensitive information on anything should be given to her, which will make it impossible for her to plan anything as the bulk of the money, resources flow from South of the border

Hahahaha give over.

How exactly does going up to Scotland to encourage unity actually "sort the Covid mess out"?

And if he wanted to encourage unity anywhere today, perhaps he should have stayed at home, and instructed Sir Desmond Swayne to show it to his own party...

Whatever your views of Boris we have been successfully and healthily united with all others on our small Island including Scotland since 1707.Do you seriously think that a couple of here today gone tomorrow self centred politicians should be a good reason to divide GB. A very short sighted damaging view in my opinion.
Not a good reason to divide the UK but they are capable of making it happen.
The only Tory they could have picked as leader that would sit worse with the Scots than Johnson is Rees-Mogg.
Cant see Scotland staying in the UK, probably gone by 2030 if they can get themselves accepted by the EU.

What are her policies other than Independence
Not sure she has any other but she stands her ground and sticks to it. What countries need now is clear leadership and direction. I don't know enough about Scottish politics (sorry @Loco) but I just like the way she stands her ground, that's all.

Exactly. That’s why I am not in favour. It was a highly theoretical and unfeasible suggestion as I said. Can you think of a way of getting the Scots to truly understand the consequences of Sturgeon’s obsession?

It’s actually Sturgeon that wants our submarines removed from Scotland. She wants no more nuclear power stations built either, etc. So if Scotland goes independent that will happen. The MoD is actually considering the feasibility of resiting the Vanguard subs, if they really have to, probably to Devonport where the HKs are, but it would be an impractical option. Vanguard subs need to be close to the open Atlantic to disappear quickly.
Barrow. House the lot there 👍

Herts

I hope you are enjoying the game but just to say that Phil Deux (Welsh Phil, can't remember his old name) stands his ground, would you want him to be our PM ?
NO I'm not, The Dippers scored late on and Kane looks crocked again but hey, its half time.

I guess the point I am trying (badly i suppose) to make is I want a leader to make a call and stick with it. Don't wish to incur the wrath of my fellow Yiddo but Boris just keeps changing his mind all the time. A leader sets direction and sticks with it, Thatcher, whether you supported her or not (no comment) did so. Macron and Merkel amongst others are also doing what they think right and sticking to it. It's up to the populace to judge that as we will, hopefully.

As for Phil deux, he made his stance and has continually stuck to it. That's ok for me. Probably not PM material though !

He’d also be smaller than Sturgeon. One photo and his credibility will be out the water.

With respect... How on earth is “saying something sticking to it” a quality...?

Surely that just shows a lack of flexibility in the face of circumstances (like a pandemic) where ever shifting circumstances require you to not only change your mind, but to do so frequently.

In fact, I’d argue that our biggest issue during this pandemic has been due to exactly the type of approach that you are promoting... When we have set a direction and tried to stick to it, we have run into trouble.

Why are the English so keen to keep hold of Scotland if it really is a drain on UK funds? If that's the case, then let them decide their own future based on the UK that exists today, not the one that existed previously when they last had a referendum.

Brexit was always going to act as a blueprint for the Scots wanting independence. There's no longer any EU glue holding the individual UK countries together so Scotland will leave the UK within 10 years and then Northern Ireland will follow suit.

Tomorrow's papers are leading with Sturgeon taking the EU's side in the vaccine dispute with the UK. She really is an arse.

Not sure how she got her job, not an M. Never stood in the parliament elections, gets elected to holy rood with 60 votes from parhead region and voted to lead the SNP. Hardly a people’s vote.

If the “Establishment” thinks it needs to use the alleged Salmond conspiracy to nobble her... it will.

It’s a shame Prince Philip is not 23 years younger, I believe he has access to a garage full of white Fiat Unos.

I guess we'll see. Prince Philip? An irrelevance.

Who needs enemies when you have homegrown protagonists like this?

Scotland will publish COVID-19 detailed vaccine supply data next week even though the British government has so far refused to do so amid a row between the European Union and drug companies such as AstraZeneca over delayed deliveries.

Europe's fight to secure vaccines intensified on Thursday when the EU warned drug companies that it would use all legal means or even block exports unless they agreed to deliver shots as promised.
Scottish First Minister Nicolas Sturgeon, fielding questions about the pace of the vaccine rollout, said that vaccine supply data would be published from next week even though the British government had demanded it not publish such data.

"I think we'll just go back to publishing the actual supply figures from next week, so that we all have transparency around that," Sturgeon told the Scottish parliament on Thursday.
The EU's contract with AstraZeneca for its COVID-19 vaccine contains binding orders, EU Commision Head Ursula von der Leyen said on Friday, demanding a plausible explanation from the drugmaker for delivery hold-ups.

But why is the data secret and why would it be a security risk, as Boris has said, should NS publish it ?

She has a point. Apparently the Westminster government have been stockpiling vaccine doses in England, not releasing enough to Scotland, but then criticised the SNP for being slow to administer vaccines. She's being stitched up by the Tories. She knows they won't like the info revealing as it shows the UK in a bad light that they are stockpiling whilst neighbouring countries and the rest of the world go short.

Because the data relates to supplies of vaccines which Britain has secured and available to the British Public.

Clearly when vaccines are in such significant demand worldwide, then other Nations may well covet what we have got.

So this poses both a security and an ongoing supply risk...

Or....,the truth, as Ruth Davidson said in the Scottish Parliament

"Scotland has shifted targets, we are behind the rest of the UK and on Sunday vaccinations hit the lowest number yet. GPs have been asking for more people to be vaccinated in Scotland for weeks. They need the vaccine to be delivered to their surgeries more quickly, but we have shifted targets and are behind the rest of the UK and on Sunday vaccinations hit the lowest number yet. The Scottish Government can call up deliveries overnight from the distribution centres but are only sending out weekly deliveries to GPs. The head of GPs at BMA Scotland has asked if family doctors can be allowed to order stocks directly in order to speed up this process"
