If Sturgeon goes ahead with her illegal “advisory” 2nd referendum on Scottish independence and gets a resounding “Yes” then the UK Government could show Scotland what it would be really like. For a two-year period following that vote, simply treat Scotland as another country. Stop all the grants and the Barnett funding formula, pull the Royal Navy out, let them have all the oil revenues that pertain to Scottish waters and see how they like it.
Of course, this is an unrealistic scenario, it would cause hardship and strife and could cause civil unrest and long-term resentment. It is not the way governments should behave. So I am not actually in support of that, but short of actually experiencing what will happen, is there any other way to get the Scots to understand the consequences of Sturgeon’s obsession?
