We actually played ok

Some good points here but i wouldn't lay it at Critch's door. Players need to step up too and for one reason or another a few weren't quite on it last night. That five or ten percent can make all the difference against committed opponents like last night's.
Agree & I’m pretty sure a lot of people on here including me were buzzing when we saw the team announced, it didn’t work but critch learns from these games unlike some stubborn managers, that’s the thought process that helps me anyway, still pissed off big time though

We did play ok and lost unfortunately it happens that’s football. A dose of realism is needed. How long has Critch been in the job 18 months? a•rse end of a season, a full promotion winning season, ending the campaign as the best team in the league, and the start of this. He has overseen a complete overhaul of the squad and coaching staff in the process. He is doing a very good job to suggest otherwise is none-sense.

A few points.

Madine came on and suddenly we started trying to move the ball about. WHY?!

We have one style of play. Give the ball to Bowler hope he does something. Kinda obvious. We're missing Mitchell.

Is it by chance that our best performance was against Fulham, who are probably the only team who set up the same as us ?
Agree with the original post, we need to be more flexible and stop being over run in midfield.

Interesting stat just popped on Stoke v Barnsley…. we’re in the bottom five for fewest shots on target. We’ve had 19 and think that’s no surprise to any of us. But so to do Hull and Peterborough which kinda confirms why all three of us are struggling to adap to the this higher level in our early games.

I dunno. I'm loathe to lay into Critch because he had a go. He put attacking players on the pitch. He tried to win the game. The gamble didn't work. Happens like that sometime.

What I'd be more concerned with would be trying to play home games like away games which he went through a phase of. I'd rather lose trying to win than trying not to lose.

My take would be that with an extra out and out striker the front four found it harder to rotate. With Kesh, Bowler TJJ against Cov, it was more like 3 in support of Jerry. 3+1
TJJ is more of link man than a striker, he's comfortable coming deep and Keshi is comfortable anywhere left, right or centre which opens space for Bowler. He also drops deep sometimes and turns a 2 into a 3.

With Jerry and Lavery, it was 2+2 and the fluidity just wasn't there. I don't like those two together. They're both ace but I dunno. It's weird looking at them as a partnership.

They certainly haven't worked it out yet, but it's early days, albeit we need to avoid getting cut adrift. I'd be much happier with a fit Madine and one of them for now if we are going two upfront..

I know they're not twins, but they both want to do the same job essentially. I'd feel exactly the same about two target men. Armand and Madine would just be weird. Did it actually ever happen? I can't remember.

Huddersfield weren't exactly giants at the back but we never lòoked like winning anything much from the many long balls we hit. A lot of wasted running, something we need to change.
