Rangers game cancelled

Where did we accidentally post it? I never saw it and have Twitter notifications on.
It was a Twitter notification from a member of staff at the Scotland hotel saying they weren't allowed on the floor where our team was staying as 3 had covid . It was then copied to this site . It wasn't accidentally posted I wouldn't have thought .

Cases are going to go through the roof from today - Freedom Day - or whatever crap they are calling it.
Are we seriously going to shut every business, factory, school, football team, for every Covid case, plus the “pings” from the NHS app from those in close contact?
Might as well shut the fcuking lot down because this crap isn’t going to function at any level.

Of more concern is the knock on impact to season readiness - hopefully Carlisle and Burnley still go ahead.

Is there a case for footballers and other sports men to be double jabbed before the start of the season, no need to self isolate unless test proves positive?
Agree that clubs should be told then to play the fixture as all sorts of shenanigans will happen if they are allowed to postpone fixtures at will

Better to have it now and not in 4 or 5 weeks time. Hope it doesn’t affect fitness levels too much? Dougall struggled for a while last year after Covid

All adults have been offered the jab. Whether the players, staff etc at the club have had at least one jab is unknown and whether the club have asked players in particular to get jabbed is another unknown.

Given their relatively young ages I would guess that only one jab will have been administered for players if they have indeed taken the job offer up!

Yep, my first thought was our preparation. Hope all players are fit and fully prepared.
But I suppose after today that this is quite likely for many teams. As already posted we'd be worse off it happened in early August I suppose.
Good job we're not in L1, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank wouldn't be playing his first match until September!!

Tactical? It's a friendly
I think the perception of 4,500 or more Rangers fans coming here for a full day/night on the piss for a friendly and the limping out of Covid restrictions has played a part in this. Would have been mayhem in Blackpool & it then causes a surge in cases does that reflect bad on the Club? I think that’s why it’s tactical.

Only my opinion, but with a large squad & pre-season we shouldn’t need to cancel as would be ideal for rest of the squad especially if it’s just a few cases.

Tactical non-footballing reasons.

They're going to be coming down anyway, they'll already have paid for travel, accommodation and booked time off work. I walked through town this morning at 9am and saw plenty of Rangers shirts, this is two days before the game on Wednesday.

So if that is the reason, which I don't think it is, it's ridiculous and will have cost the club a lovely pre-season wedge of money

I think the issue isn't fans but our team. Newport must have pulled out , and why we had so many youth players against Accy. I guess a few senior players have Covid symptoms and others are close associates so have to quarantine. Think our pre-season may become a shambles and fitness levels will suffer. The Scotland hotel said staff had been told to stay clear , but players were openly moving around with no masks. Hopefully we haven't had too many players effected.

I’ve cancelled my rangers guests (19) they ain’t coming down to blackpool now they e cancelled their bus and I hadn’t charged them so all’s go on our side.

Add me to the list .
Positive test this morning probably from my day out at Wembley.
Been double jabbed as well. Waiting for the PCR test result now.
Looks like it is rife.

Fortunately affects are just like a common cold.

After august 14th if you’re double jabbed and get pinged all you have to do is lateral flow tests every day instead of self isolating, so hopefully this’ll be less of an issue from then on
This is the only sane course of action. If you're pinged, just test yourself regularly but don't self isolate otherwise the whole country is going to end up in an unofficial shutdown, every few months. It's getting farcical now tbh. Now that most people are fully vaccinated, more people will die due to NHS waiting lists caused by all this than will actually die from Covid itself. Utterly ridiculous and totally lacking in rational thought.

One thing I saw from an NHS doctor the other day, relating to hospital admissions. Typical ICU stay is 1-3 days. For Covid, it's around 15-20 days. So one Covid patient is taking up ten times as much ICU resource as a non-Covid patient. While the numbers might be low, they are still rising, and whilst not as quickly as rates, hospitalisations and deaths are still increasing. Hospitalisations are predominantly in unvaccinated people, or vaccinated people with underlying conditions - the issue here is that many of the people with underlying conditions didn't know they had an underlying condition until they got Covid. So many higher-risk people think they are safe and they aren't.
Of course, this might all be scaremongering. Personally, I tend to believe NHS staff. They have nothing to gain.

Did they get pinged or did they test positive? Hopefully the squad will have reached herd immunity by start of season🤒

Had it last 2 weeks ,just back at work, after 2 jabs, its like having a hangover everyday, not recommended ,suppose everyone has slightly different symptom's
