Qatar World Cup

Absolute bollox. It would send a loud and clear message to FIFA that we're not supporting the crazy corrupt decision to give Qatar the World Cup and show solidarity to the families of the 6500 migrant workers who have lost their lives building the stadiums.
How many items that are made in china do you have in your house or ever bought?

If you are going to take the line you have - surely you should show solidarity with the millions of families who have lost people due to the Chinese regime.

...or does that not suit your argument???

This threads about the Qatar World Cup. I disagree with the decision to stage it there for several reasons as many do, if lemmings like you continue encouraging FIFA by following the money nothing will change. Boycott it.

Try answering the question?

...otherwise it could be a little hypocritical 👍

Ps I agree they should have not got it - but I am going.

Like most the decision to award Qatar the WC should never have happened, but FIFA were probably at their most corrupt at that time and before the net started to close in on certain individuals. I have always looked forward to watching the WC but this is doing absolutely nothing for me, and yes it is a bit too early and things may change but lets see. Be interesting to see the level of support from the qualifying countries particularly England.

Ffs it's the world cup!! It's been corrupt for decades, it's about watching England play in a competition, against other countries, whilst experiencing other cultures.. believe it or not their are actually lots and lots of nice kind people living in Qatar, Evey country has is own laws and rules. Like many have said know one moans or is complaining about buying the latest tech from china, importing oil and gas from other countries. If Qatar was a squeaky clean country, people would still be complaining about " what no fish and chips" no bacon sandwiches or fry up" enjoy it!! Life is to Short to feel hate and resentment.. you never know, we might actually win it!!

Qatar,Russia, Brazil and South Africa the last four hosts and every single one has issues but where allowed to hold a World Cup.

Can't be just me who is sick to the back teeth of politics and sport being intwined I just want to watch a game of football and you can stick your taking of the knee and political statements etc where the sun doesn't shine.

Spot on. It's football. A game that is meant to be an escape and enjoyable to watch. That's it.

Funniest thing of the day even if England get as lucky as the last 2 tournos and draw pub teams again they will not win it .couldn't stand the embarrassment of being made to look like a pub team as soon as we play a proper side either .When will people wake up and realize Southgate is s a dullard and not only has he used over 100 players in qualifying he has been behind some of the poorest England displays ever and not against decent sides either .I find the delusion funny

Fair point but out of context really. We're all supposed to be living in a world of more self awareness and more compassion, but in reality we're hemmed in by the way we live.
Chelsea and Newcastle fans are/were quite happy to be underwritten by dirty money and the rest of us* subscribe to Sky TV etc that's killing the national game.
We buy McDonald's and pop into Nando's but dont think about the local places, maybe because they're a bit more expensive or a little awkward to get to.

That still doesn't detract from the underlying and serious issues in Qatar and other countries, where for instance they executed 81 people in Saudi last month.
Collectively we should be responding to the bigger stuff and where possible doing our own little bit to protect our communities

I struggle to get interested enough to watch international football on tv, never mind spending fortunes to go…🤣
Going isn't just about the sport, yes it's a great reason to go and usually ruins the trip.

It also makes you visit places you never thought you would.

However, having followed England, Football, Rugby and Cricket around the world for 25 years ish, it has given me some amazing experiences - generally with the locals of wherever we are.

It's given me a reason to visit over 100 countries over the years - and I have made life long friends doing it.

I think you miss out, at least if you don't try it....

I appreciate not everyone can, but many could give it a go once and see what they think.
