Our Key Player

He has spells if doing nothing and then a better spell. I think Madine has made the difference, doing the dirty work, enabling Kaikai and others to find the spaces to do the damage.
I'd agree Madine does the dirty work, I think he goes a bit unnoticed in his contribution but I can understand why he frustrates when he misses sitters. As I said I don't think Kaikai is the sole reason for our recent pick-up, but he is definitely a big influence on the squad

I would say that as daft as it sounds Maxwell is our key player - maybe not in talent or ability but the fact that I just don't think we have decent cover.

Voyeur you are getting a bit heated. Cool down and be a calm fellow. We are allowed to voice our views even if they are contrary to yours.
You are mistaking being heated for disagreeing - which I am allowed to do too. Works both ways. I have been perfectly calm, believe me. I have gone against the current grain about Madinbe, who is doing a decent job of sorts at the minute in a moment of necessary pragmatism, but this is a thread about our key player and I'm struggling with his presence on the thread a bit. It's no time at all since our fans wanted him off the wage bill because of his lack of contribution and three games in which he's done a bit better without scoring don't make him our key player, in my humble opinion. I'm a bit bemused as to why some people think it does. But each to their own.

Not only are you struggling with his presence on the thread you are also struggling with his presence on the pitch too. The problem with you is that you can't offer an alternative because simply there isn't one. Not one that has worked or looked like working. Plenty of games at the start of the season to try and play without that type of player but generally it didn't work.. No good having plenty of possession if you don't do something with it. Playing pretty sideways football in front of the opposition was getting us nowhere. We His presence on the pitch has allowed others to perform. Don't just believe me on that, go and listen to what Yates had to say.

As for the rest of your opinion, fans wanted him off the wage bill because for a player on such a supposed big wage who wasn't being picked then yes, if that's the case then get him off the wage bill. And if a player who both last season and earlier this season when he did play seemed uninterested, then yes, get him off the wage bill. But for these last few games he's proven what a difference he can make to the team simply by allowing others to showcase what they can do. Maybe his fitness levels have got up to scratch. I daresay Yates,CJ and Kaikai benefit from Madine being in the team as well as the defence and midfield by knowing that there is an out ball up to Madine and the ball isn't gonna necessarily gonna come straight back at them.

In other words all pretty valid reasons why people see Madine as being a key player at this point in time.

You don't listen very well at all do you? You read stuff and convert it into what you want it to say and then regurgitate it all in a very different form. You tell me what I have said and I think, no! I haven't said that!

I have said many times we needed to sign a central striker during the window. I said so during the window. It doesn't make Madine a key player. I appreciate the role he is playing at the moment, as a stop gap measure, and have said so umprteen times. It doesn't make him an overnight key player in my opinion. I hope he keeps improving. Adding some goals for example. Then he'd start to look like a key player.

Key player or stop gap? Or both?! For me he's a stop gap. If he starts scoring regularly then he becomes a key player, that would be great, I'd love to see him do it, I've nothing personal against him whatsoever. He will know that he needs to score more, as the central striker.

Least he has moved on from Spearing being irreplaceable
You've really got to do better. I think we've done well with bringing Robson and Dougall in. Two Spearing types of player. And younger too. But we certainly missed a leader on the pitch, something that Spearing was. Maybe you are too blind to that though.

Oh c'mon, you're not prepared to give Madine a chance. Your last para tells me that. Madine will never be a regular goal scorer. If we get ten league goals out of him this season we'll be lucky. But as I said earlier it's what he brings to the team and allows others to do that is KEY.

He led us to quite a few embarassing Defeats, or maybe my eyes deceived me then as well

Again, a complete re-interpretation. I'm stopping this now.

I see Williams is out for weeks. Bit of a blow.

I'd agree with this - we're back to zero competition in the keeper position!
