No issue with the GP part, it was the couldn't get help anywhere part that I thought was bollocks. I don't think his experience is representative either so we might as well leave it there.

Well, he ended up needing emergency surgery, and was apparently an hour from death, so I imagine he tried reasonably hard to get some kind of help, but if you want to dismiss his experience as bollocks, I'm bored with talking to the brick wall.
