Keshi Anderson

As I said to Phil, a lot of this comes down to opinions and your / my opinion of a player can often colour how you view their performance on any given day. You're more likely to focus on the negative aspects of a player than you don't really favour and look for the positive aspects of the players that you do...That's just human nature and we all do it.

I'm also not saying that Keshi is better or that he has more ability or potential than Josh Bowler, just that in the first half of last season I felt Keshi was our best player on the basis of actual performances.

There's a part of me that agrees with your last couple of sentences here, but at the same time I'm not sure we are quite at the point just yet, where we can just dismiss players of his calibre.... Right now I think he could still make a valuable contribution to our squad, but I accept that contractual circumstances may dictate.
Stats aren't the be all though. If they were, then by that [your] logic the better teams would be coming in for Anderson and not Bowler.

And yep, I've made that very same point you make in your first para to Insider. So sure, I might be being harsh on Anderson but I've been consistent with my view on him and that is he too often gets the simple basic stuff wrong. He can offer something but I really hope this new guy is better and Anderson merely becomes a squad player.

No they're not the be all, but they are a strong indicator of actual performances.... The difference between Bowler and Anderson is that one has probably reached the limit of his capabilities, whilst the other is young with bags of raw talent and potential... It's the potential that generates the interest in Bowler... Although in fairness it doesn't appear that sides are falling over themselves to sign him.

Well i think Bowler is on another level than Anderson so as I've said he is comfortably better than Hamilton and even Dale too, but he is a player who I think we can get better than. And hopefully maybe Corbeanu is that player.
Yeah. ‘Hopefully’ for Corbeanu. But hopefully lots of other players can be better too. We’ve had loads of young ‘talent’ in the past that have got nowhere close to being a genuine first team starter. So I’ll wait for hopefully to prove itself to be ‘actually’.
I see the weaknesses of Keshi, that’s no issue, but it’s a bit precious - or maybe deluded- to think there’s loads of better and more consistent players out there on our budget.

so to put a bit of balance to your post in fairness, there is no-one falling over themselves to sign Anderson. At least
Bowler had known suitors who as such were considered bigger clubs than us. I'd say they are a strong indicator of how a player is rated too.

I agree he was very good prior to his injury and much less effective after. Like Garbutt fo me me, Keshi looks to be a confidence player so capable of very variable standards. Get him firing he’s an asset but out of form, different player.

I think I’ve already been balanced enough really. I’ve already said that Bowler is the player who will attract most attention and why…

Players have spells where they are in or out of form. I qualified my original point to say that before Keshi was injured last season I felt he was our best player.. At that point JB’s performances had been hit and miss.

I’m not sure why it’s such a big deal to you…. You’ve said that you don’t agree (and that’s fine by me… I’m sure you’re not alone) 👍

I agree with you that JB is our most valuable player right now.

If by creative, you mean most likely to lose possession with a casual pass, then I'd agree with you.
No, I meant creative as in he had the most assists and general goal contributions during the first half of last season, than anyone else. He’s not a central midfielder, the last few games showed that (down to NC playing tinkerman again) but in the final third he sees passes most others wouldn’t. Shayne got a few of his goals around that time because of Keshi.

Sorry, far too inconsistent for me.

If Keshi comes out on all cylinders and starts this season the same as last - floating in between midfield and the fwd line - he will be the man.

I really hope so because his give and go along with vision for a pass can be superb.

Not long to wait now

It's his vision for the five yard pass that worries me. He might be able to do the difficult things well but more often than not it's the easy things that are required and his inconsistency in doing that frustrates the hell out of me.

I know where your coming from
