Keshi Anderson

Obviously there's no guarantee the deals being talked about will get done. But the news has got me thinking a bit about Keshi.

We want a strong squad with plenty of attacking options, but Keshi was linked with a move away earlier in the summer and the guys we're looking to bring in would mean he wasn't guaranteed a place in any of the spots he plays (nor should he be, like).

Hopefully it's all just gonna be tough competition for places and we absolutely don't need to sell Keshi. Anyone know what his contract situation is though?

One year left on his contract so it's decision time for the club if no one comes in for him before end of August.
Offer him a new one(he could refuse) or let him go for free next summer.

He doesn't seem to be on anyone's radar but would like to keep him thought he was excellent before getting injured last season.

Our most creative player for the season until his injury.
Daft post mate

I probably would as well, ignoring contract-related stuff. CJ has a bit of extra pace and is left-footed, which we lack elsewhere in attacking areas. But Keshi is a more effective player than both when fit, definitely.
Yeah agree. Whilst I'm not a Anderson fan, I'm even less of a Hamilton one. Dale, I don't really have any strong thoughts on at all. If he goes or stays wouldn't bother me either way. An unintersting player so to speak.

I am definitely a Keshi fan. Quite surprised how many want rid to be honest. He can be a bit slack with his passing but he can also be genuinely brilliant. The fitness record and contract situation got me thinking is all.

We haven't seen a lot of Dale beyond the odd flash of skill. Talented but always looks a bit lightweight. It's a big year for him and he might have a bit to do to get in the team the way things are looking.

I like Keshi, I think he's a gifted and intelligent player with good strength, but I'm not sure he delivers consistently enough at this level. As other's have said, I think you have to consider any offers very seriously if he contract is up next year.

Anyone with one year left and no sign of a new deal can go for me if a decent offer comes in, no matter how good they are.
And if no one comes in for him?
Can't see many who finished above us last season or those in Lge 1 paying for Keshi and for me he stays and Dale and CJ sent out on loan.

Well there was supposed to be interest. Not saying we should offer him out, but if a good offer does come in for a player in his final year it should be seriously considered, which I'm sure it would be.

On his day he's good, has some great moments but too often he is too slow to make a good pass or too quick to make a bad pass!
If an offer came in I would seriously consider it.

Never sure what Keshi you are gonna get but he scores some great goals and on that subject he scored v Knob End which gets forgotten about. Depends what the fee is & what the player wants. He’s got a touch of the Elliot Grandin’s in body language but he should be held well for that Knob end goal even if it was sliced in.

Compare that to the Knob Ends adoration for “Super Tommy Cha” and “Archer baby” scoring against us.

We don’t make as big a thing about it do we?

Keshi’s goal against the nobbers was a freak goal, it had everything to do with luck and nothing to do with skill
Gary’s goal was sublime skil from both him and Jerry!
As muck as I like to beat them I just don’t think that the majority of Blackpool fans are as obsessed about them as they clearly are with us!

Not bothered if he goes. He's a bit of a bully boy on the pitch snatching the ball from colleagues to take free kicks (badly). He also berates other Pool players for his mistakes. We have better now.

Baffled as to who we have that is proven to be better than Keshi other than Bowler.
Well i think Bowler is on another level than Anderson so as I've said he is comfortably better than Hamilton and even Dale too, but he is a player who I think we can get better than. And hopefully maybe Corbeanu is that player.

Never fails to amaze me the short memories on here.

Keshi easily one of our standout performers last season
He was our best player in the first half of the season and the goal v Sheff United was sublime . . one of the best first touches I have ever seen.

The second half of the season he faded but still in our best 15.

I wouldn't mind a player with Josh Bowler's ability and Keshi Anderson's football brain TBH.... Personally, I had Keshi down as my favourite player (and arguably our best player) until his injury (and in fairness the player ratings on fotmob, for example, back that up). That kind of changed with Bowler's short, but very sweet, purple patch and the reintroduction of Keshi into the side.

Bowler tends to get a lot of attention because people like to see players who can take someone on and dribble the ball.... Of course, as we saw last season, for a large proportion of the time he also loses possession in key areas, has a tendency to overplay the dribbling at times and his decision making can be pretty hit and miss... So his actual impact on games can be pretty inconsistent.. He's also a bit head down and headless chicken at times. Keshi by contrast is one of few players (probably Kevin Stewart being another) who can actually put a foot on the ball and dictate the pace of the game and (at least before his injury) he was putting in pretty consistent performances.

There's certainly other players who I'd rather see gone than Bowler or Anderson, but the contractual situations tend to dictate how the Club might react to any offers really.

The only thing about that post that I agree with is the last para

And even that is subjective on how much value you put on the impact those players can have on this season under a new more experienced attacking head coach

Like I said Phil... The performance stats back up my perspective.... the rest is all about opinions and personally I'm more interested in end product than 'looking good'.

Of course, the value of any offer will dictate the decision as to whether it's worth keeping a player or letting them go.

Both Josh and the Club might surprise us and he might sign a new contract, but if not, then I'm pretty comfortable about him going and I'm also pretty confident that we'll be better off than we were last season regardless.

You might think he has a football brain but it's a shame that he hasn't got the football feet to go with it! There again as i said earlier, his ability to consistently hit simple five yard passes to opponents has no equals. So is that down to his brain or his feet? It's a point I was making even when we were on L1. For me, he's ahead of Hamilton and Dale but we need better to be a decent championship side. And to also make progress.

Without doubt one of our best players until he got injured, head and shoulders above CJ and Dale, no problem with him showing frustration with his teammates on occasion either, shows he cares. Happily see him in Tangerine for a few more years.

Keshi is one of those players that will do something sublime one minute (through ball for Lavery vs Barnsley for example), and the next minute give the ball away in a ridiculous way that's totally unnecessary if he'd just concentrate. The problem as I see it is that if we're only playing one holding midfielder as opposed to the two favoured by Critchley, there isn't the cover there to prevent those lapses of concentration and poor execution of the basics turning into disasters.
That's why I think he'll be used more sparingly this season, if he's not sold. He's done very well for us, but as harsh as it sounds, I think he'll be one of those players who many worry about leaving, but once he's gone you'll realise he wasn't that difficult to replace or improve upon. Much like Cj and Dale, but not like Bowler who we'd struggle to replace or improve upon within our budget.

As I said to Phil, a lot of this comes down to opinions and your / my opinion of a player can often colour how you view their performance on any given day. You're more likely to focus on the negative aspects of a player than you don't really favour and look for the positive aspects of the players that you do...That's just human nature and we all do it.

I'm also not saying that Keshi is better or that he has more ability or potential than Josh Bowler, just that in the first half of last season I felt Keshi was our best player on the basis of actual performances.

There's a part of me that agrees with your last couple of sentences here, but at the same time I'm not sure we are quite at the point just yet, where we can just dismiss players of his calibre.... Right now I think he could still make a valuable contribution to our squad, but I accept that contractual circumstances may dictate.
