Plus I knew we were going to score from that corner as my bet365 win notification arrived for Yates scoring anytime just as Woodburn was placing the ball
I didn’t realise Virtue was on eitherI didn’t realise Robson was on although I did wonder who had replaced Dougal. 1-1 against the mighty Hull, we’re not miles off.
yep theyre 2nd and we’re work in progressReally?
You don't know he was about to score at all. If he'd shot he might have put it wide, the keeper might have saved it. Don't make things up. He stopped a goal scoring opportunity that's why he was sent off, he didn't stop a goal.He was just about to score until brought down for the red card. That’s not lucky.
I knew we had scored as well. I was just about to put £1 on us to win at 25/1 and the odds came down to 3/1Plus I knew we were going to score from that corner as my bet365 win notification arrived for Yates scoring anytime just as Woodburn was placing the ball
With a game in hand. Just been reading about the 69/70 promotion season. At the halfway point, (and we're not there yet) we were 8 points off promotion when it was 2 points for a win.Not good enough, 8 points of the play offs, second lowest scorers in the division. If we don’t string a run of 5 wins together it’s all petering out. With the backing and players available to Critchley he’s underachieving.
The thing is though, how good is a top 6 team in League 1 given how bad Hull were and they were second!!That was not the performance of a tip six team. It was not the performance of a team that frightens opposition defences. Without Hamilton we look harmless.
I admire your optimism.Beat Northampton Tuesday couple of exciting players waltz in and we are going up as champions again
Actually, I'm with Memphis on this one.Despite very strong competition, you take the 'Prick of the day' award
No more or less than any other team including ourselves would of done. Would he of scored, no one knows. You don't know he was about to score at all. If he'd shot he might have put it wide, the keeper might have saved it. Don't make things up. He stopped a goal scoring opportunity that's why he was sent off, he didn't stop a goal.
Part of my point is that better quality full backs would offer you that anyway, instead of an hour's worth of cutting back inside and wasting momentum - let alone allowing yourself to get constantly done on the outside. Think of some of the fullbacks we've had in the past. We need to improve and be stable in these positions to really step on.He put Gabriel and Garbutt on to stretch the play against Hull’s 10 men. Both of them are more attacking than Turton and Husband.
Quite an obvious tactical switch to make in the circumstances if you ask me.

Both are out of contract in Summer but I would be surprised if we do not keep at least 1. They are both OK L1 defenders and Husband did play in Championship. You shouldn't be having to sub both your full backs. They should be secure positions in a settled side. I don't think Critch quite trusts any of them enough. We need to sort these positions out as it's costing us.
Yes, a good point but I just feel that by this stage of the season, any team that wants to be in the play-offs or higher, has to be a team that looks like theycould survive at the next level. Hull looked a bit that way today, we didn't.The thing is though, how good is a top 6 team in League 1 given how bad Hull were and they were second!!
What?????? I would put my money on Woodburn scoring there. Not making things upYou don't know he was about to score at all. If he'd shot he might have put it wide, the keeper might have saved it. Don't make things up. He stopped a goal scoring opportunity that's why he was sent off, he didn't stop a goal.
They certainly did on the snidey gamesmanship front. Sometimes we look a bit naive by comparison to other teams that are full of niggle and constantly conning the ref. I kind of like our purity of spirit thoughYes, a good point but I just feel that by this stage of the season, any team that wants to be in the play-offs or higher, has to be a team that looks like theycould survive at the next level. You said something similar about the yellow DonHere pal. Did really well didn’t he putting it in from half a yard out. I’ve revised my opinion he’s taking us up.
Probably the most balanced and accurate post we'll get this evening. I was hoping for more from Virtue but he was being played too deep. I wonder if the conservatism comes from Critchley?Very decent point. However, the overall performance was poor even though we battled more I think in the second half. It was miles away from our performance in the home game, and it worries me if we're so reliant on Hamilton to win games.
The full backs offer little in an attacking sense, the midfield is good at battling but not very good at supporting the forwards, and the wingers are ineffective although their service, along with the service to Yates and Madine, is really not good enough. Madine was a presence but it rarely drops for us. Good to see Yates get on the score sheet again, and he was alert enough to nick the ball and get through on goal. Despite our scoring problems, I don't lay the blame really at those two because they feed off scraps and have done all season. Our lack of goals is a team problem.
But that was a gift of a point, much like how we gifted Lincoln the points earlier in the season. I really hope Critchley drops the view that we have enough attacking option, because the facts and evidence do not support that viewpoint at all.
We are not at Christmas yet in season terms long way to go, with one or two exciting additions to come in, I expect us to trouble the play offsI’ve resigned myself to mid table with hope to improve next year. We won’t be troubling the playoffs. That said could have been 2-1 to us but for professional fouling.
Woodburn did well and on that performance I would start him in front of Kai Kai or Lubala...I assume Woodburn is better on the leftSeeing a lot of harsh criticism of Woodburn on Twitter.
Anybody else feel he had a good game when he came on? Probably his best yet in Tangerine
I agree, we're a still a work in progress and a long way off being capable of consistently putting performances & results together in order to make up however many points behind the top 6 we are. We still need a few players of real quality who are difference makers.I’ve resigned myself to mid table with hope to improve next year. We won’t be troubling the playoffs. That said could have been 2-1 to us but for professional fouling.
The most positive and uplifting post we'll get this evening....how many pints!?We are not at Christmas yet in season terms long way to go, with one or two exciting additions to come in, I expect us to trouble the play offs
hull playng like that in the championship would be a bottom six side. outside of the wingers being able to turn our full backs i would say we matched if not bettered them in most departments. the game was scrappy, hull are a cynical cheating bunch of (put appropriate word here) and the ref didnt help with some truly appalling decisions.Yes, a good point but I just feel that by this stage of the season, any team that wants to be in the play-offs or higher, has to be a team that looks like theycould survive at the next level. Hull looked a bit that way today, we didn't.
Good post Potts. I didn't know the ref was a newbie.Hull deserved fuck all from that. Time wasting and going down at every opportunity. Referee was a first year pro and he fell for it.
Not sure we deserved more than a point though ourselves but i'll take it. We wasted too much time at 1-0 down passing it across the back time after time. I wouldn't mind if we were one up, but we weren't. We also wasted the free kick after the sending off, and two corners after the goal one of which when we had a spare man we had two of our own players out by the corner flag thinking of taking a short corner.
In fairness I'd have taken a point before the game, but is it a point gained, only time will tell. Need to win a few on the bounce now to keep in touch.
Not champions you will have to settle for play offs I am afraidBeat Northampton Tuesday couple of exciting players waltz in and we are going up as champions again
Not even Christmas yet in football terms, we could still go up automatic. Not champions you will have to settle for play offs I am afraid
