Ekpiteta signs new deal

Would have loved one or two extra years but still a massive deal to get done. Suspect a few big fish will be looking at him in the summer. Make him club captain while we're at it.
 
The club probably think we're not getting relegated so can offer a bit more money for longer.

There's some on here need to remind them we're not mathematically safe yet.

He's been incredible since joining us.

Even the most negative of people on here surely feel were not going down this season.
 
Adds a nice bit more value to his transfer fee too if the bigger boys come sniffing in the summer.
 
Hopefully a couple of more sign, even if we have to say if a bigger club comes in for you and offer a good price we wont stand in your way if you want to leave

Delighted with this, was concerned we might lose him for a low fee this summer. Really great to see us planning for next season already. Bowler & Keshi next please...

Two years. That’s OK in our position. We can’t overcommit to contract duration with our budget. It does give us two seasons to try and meet his ambition of being a Prem player. 🤞
And Marv is 26, so in two years he should still be at his peak as a player. So if he moves on then, good luck to him.
 
Great news. Looks like no option year, so only one more year in effect. But gives us more security.

Sounds about right this. I think he has it in him to go to the top flight so probably wants to see how we do next season. Maybe it also protects the club too in case he suffers an injury next season. Paying Championship wages maybe means less 3 year plus contracts?
 
The good news keeps coming! A massive player for us this season. Improving all the time under Critch and not far off the finished article. It's only a matter of time before EPL clubs come sniffing around him. This news is another example of how far we have come as a club. Players now want to stay with us and keep on improving. The electric atmosphere and the general feel good factor must have also contributed to his decision 👏

Regarding Josh I cannot see anyway he will sign a new deal unless we are happy to increase his salary 4 or 5 times. Unfortunately paying those type of wages for our club is not sustainable. Let's enjoy him whilst he is here and then get maximum price for him in the summer that we can. He will be hard to replace but we will.
 
Wonder if there a few clubs sniffing around him at the moment.

The way round that could be to incentivise his contract with a % of the transfer fee. For example he eventually is sold for say 15 million and from that Josh gets 10% = 1.5m or 20% = 3m.
 
Well done Marvellous - my mate said Orient were gutted to lose him - he’s jumped 4 levels in 3 seasons - that’s some huge improvement by any person

It’s feels like 2 years suits both parties. For the club it’s two years on his contract so if someone does come calling in the summer…very possibly….we get a good fee. For Marv he is 26 and in his prime and will only be 28 at contract end, he might feel one last big move on a free (if we don’t sell him in the meantime) in two years time with a big signing on fee ( return home down south?) is the way to go. For me this is in no way the contract length is limited by the club, this is down to negotiation. It’s interesting for me there is no option of a further year which generally is standard for us and says to me Marv was only willing to sign for 2 years.
