I'd be surprised if we were only in for one midfielder. Adams seems like more of a ball-winner than a ball-player.

He's away at AFCON playing for Gambia currently so we may get to see him for ourselves.

Prem U23 players have been very disappointing. They may be more skilful but without the right attitude it is worthless. Would personally prefer seeing players who bust a gut to get into the team, than prima donna's.
I think our own youth will come into play in the near future, so again we need a clear strategy and the headroom to incorporate them.

I think he's more of a holding midfielder, goals scored isn't the only attribute needed to be a good player. That said, 3 goals at that level, with a club that is doing well, is poor.

Like Ballard and Simms?
 
Haven't posted in some time but am still recommending Danny Mandroiu now of Shamrock Rovers, scored 15 goals from midfield last season and rumoured to be on way to Celtic in January window, has it all imo.
His goals and assists can be viewed with search titled "danny mondroiu welcome to celtic? goals" .

Win some lose some. As with all types of signings, I think. And U23 loans don't involve committing to 3 years wages. And Ballard and Simms played major roles in our promotion.

Ever since Crich took over , he is using his knowledge of young , upcoming players that can do a job or sell on. Not pay inflated prices for players that may be able to do a job for us.
 
At some stage we will want to sell one of our gems for strong money so we can really re-invest.
At the moment I’d say Grimmy could be that player - even more so than Jerry, Bowler or Marv.

If he establishes himself as firm number 1 and carries on as he has so far, then an ex Man City academy keeper doing the business in the Championship is certainly going to be worth a £10m bid for a new promoted Prem or top Champ team

Think Critch and Sadler want to buy players with potential and sell them higher, much more sustainable model.

Honestly, I don’t know enough about them, but signing players from L2 doesn’t bother me in the slightest if properly scouted. There are quality championship standard players in L2 and even the conference and beyond, some of which we have signed and play for us today (e.g. Soney Carey, Keshi, Ekpiteta, Yates).

Brannigan I think looks very good, Simms we want I have no doubt, but getting him doesn’t seem possible etc.

So IMO let’s see which individuals we sign and how they do in our team before deciding if we should be aiming higher.
 
Would be more than happy with Brannigan or indeed Simms. Have a look at this guy on recent highlights if you’ve got the time.

He’s certainly got something about him form this game, he’s physical, positions well, chips in with goals too.

Maybe you could do a separate thread on Danny Mondroiu for a general debate on here and more likely to get noticed if our recruitment does have a crafty look.

It might be a problem if he's on Celtic's radar though. What sort of fee would we be looking at?
