Demetri Mitchell

You can see his pedigree. First season has been stop start but I think he’s a serious player. I’ve never seen CJ in the flesh, but if he’s quicker than Mitchell he’ll just be a blur!

He'll be unlucky if he gets left out at Wembley. Outstanding tonight. Worked hard off the ball, ran them ragged on it and made the right decision more often than not, which isn't a given with him.

Well played, fella.
Agreed. I said in the match thread that he's been excellent in both defence and attack
Mom for me, but no problem with Jerry getting it

An end product to go with being able to run fast tonight I thought, certainly the stand-out player for me. Looks to be growing in presence since they shelved plans for him being a left back and started putting that work into him as a winger.

Won't have been an accident that he started tonight either. Deliberately targeted Ruffles (and Barker) after the first leg as a tactic.

Think if he stayed on he'd have had them on the counter in the last few minutes as he was bang on it.

Tough call on MOTM, Jerry Yates has had a fantastic season and delivered another hard working performance; defenders can't handle him. Mitchell's contribution tonight was immense, 2 huge assists, without which, we might have seen a different result.

As good as Mitchell was tonight he won’t play in the final if Kaikai is fit. Kaikai offers more defensively and as a goalscorer.

Mitchell MoM in my book, what a brilliant outlet, not afraid to get stuck in, some great runs and crosses, how could you drop him on tonight’s performance, it should be all about who “has” the shirt and up to the likes of Kaikai to displace him - which is great for us as either player has potential to be a crowd favourite. At the moment it’s advantage Mitchell for me.

Does it have to be either/ or? Mitchell plays wide, Kaikai centre. Could we dispense with a holding midfielder? Probably not-but perhaps adapt the system to integrate the flair players?

Just watching the highlights. Some brilliant running with ball down the wing from maestro Mitchell! They hadn’t a clue what to do with him! Agreed Kaikai edges it defensively but attacking wise not many better than Deme on his day 👍

I don't think you can start Kaikai in the final, back from injury, too important a game for him to be playing himself back to fitness Unless Sunderland get to the final and we lose Embo. Ward Kaikai Anderson Gabriel Thorniley Ekpiteta Robson Madine will be unlucky to miss out but the players slap bang in form are:

Max
Turt Ball Husb Garb
Mitch Stew Doug Embo
Yates Simms

He wasn't my MOTM - that was Yates. But the performance from Mitchell was a great bonus and I felt it deserved a thread.

It’s been such a squad effort this season that I feel desperately sorry for all those left out. Maybe we’ll score 5 in the first 20 minutes so they can all get a chance😆

In pretty sure he’s going to start Anderson at Wembley.
I'm not. He might, but Embleton will start if it's Lincoln. Otherwise Anderson or Kaikai. I can't see how you leave Mitchell out after tonight really. He's been a slow burn but he's really got it together now and his confidence is sky high.

Just got back home but we said Mitchell could develop into a fantastic player as he seems to have the skill & is learning how to use it. He looked very good in the flesh tonight. 👍👍

That's my starting eleven too. Wembley is a tiring occasion, we'll need the others off the bench. I thought Big Ek looked a bit off the pace when he came on, still working his way back to full sharpness. Thorniley has been unlucky and I think he'd be the one I'd bring on if needed.

MOM for me tonight. He was involved in everything. He seemed to play with a lot of freedom. Excellent performance. The REAL Dmitri Mitchell. I've criticised him saying he's an athlete and not a footballer but tonight we really saw the total package.

I believe that given time could end up being an exceptional player if he continues on tonight's path.

By far and away the MotM !

Fingers crossed we get to see Dan Ballard again but I'm not sure after that game. And it could be the little things that go towards favouring the opposition in the end, recovering from that tonight, but we'll see.

Yates, Dougall and Stewart were also excellent, not that much in it for me.
Yates got Sky MOTM. Dougall the club match sponsors and Kevin Stewart was like a man on a mission after his involvement in their first goal. And I thought, at the point he went off, Demi Mitchell was the player that Oxford feared the most and could maybe keep their advances in check, though we surrendered possession in a way I didn't like after the 30th minute. For the most part they all give it their absolute best though and that's summed up the season as it's matured.

The space that the large Wembley pitch will offer is perfect for our passing and pacey game. Critch & his team will do their homework and come up with their team selection, mine would include Mitchel, their's may not!

Amazingly, given my dedication to Sullay and all that he is, I agree.
