Absolutely. Congratulations on your promotion (Plymouth), btwThe same with McKenna at Ipswich. Sometimes you need young uns with fresh ideas not these old dinosaurs on the managerial merry go round. I reckon Dobbie would be the perfect choice with an experienced bloke to help him.
Course he’s qualifiedSick of all this Dobbie shit. Do you want to see your club succeed, or do you just want a bloke to be our manager who is massively underqualified to do the job? Just because he played on loan for us 200 times?
Get real. We need a proper manager, not a sentimental appointment based on the pre-pubescent yearnings from the virgins in the North Stand who grew up masturbating to his goal away at Forest in 2010.
Dobbie was, and is, in charge of the kids. He's not a League 1 manager. End of story.
I’m not sure that was the case at all with Applehead..it was totally unnecessary to sign him up for 4 years…who was coming in for him Man Utd??
Negative.
Always ** negative.
Edit: I don't mean the appointment is negative. I mean our "fans" are negative.
Please dont talk shite...nobody and I mean NOBODY was going to poach Appleton..it was a mates rates appointment and never should have been sanctioned as four years (it was probably two plus two but if so why not call it that) I guarantee you we are effectively still paying for Appleton now...as a club we are not even remotely comparable to NewcastleCourse there were break clauses.
The 4 year contract protects clubs from a poach. The break clauses allow them to get rid if they need.
Alan Pardew was given a 6 year deal at newcastle but in reality it wasnt a six year commitment by the club.
Its the same with most commercial leases it might be a 50 year lease but there are break clauses.
I would guess you are correct but why quote it as 4 years and not 2 plus 2 as has been done before when referring to players' contractsDo you really think Saddler, or the lawyers, are stupid enough not to include standard clauses in an employment contract for an out of work manager?
Players and managers contracts are different, mainly because ~90% of managers will get sacked at some point, and the owners are smart enough to limit their liability when that happens.I would guess you are correct but why quote it as 4 years and not 2 plus 2 as has been done before when referring to players' contracts
How can you guarantee that? You work there? Broker ther deal? Please dont talk shite...nobody and I mean NOBODY was going to poach Appleton..it was a mates rates appointment and never should have been sanctioned as four years (it was probably two plus two but if so why not call it that) I guarantee you we are effectively still paying for Appleton now...as a club we are not even remotely comparable to Newcastle
It's their what?it's their and you have no idea where I get my info from
Important word there. If true, what happened to the original model? Young-ish up and coming manager etc etc
Must take up an opinion on how he's TRANSFORMED the way we play................excuse me, on the back on Mick McCarthy, anyone who knows anything about football could have transformed us. He was given 6 or 7 cup games to win, so set out with an agenda to gain points at all costs, largely going hell for leather with the formation and set-up.Course he’s qualified
It’s league 1. He’s done his badges . He transformed the way we play in a very short space of time and secured an excellent win ratio
McCarthy took his international team to the knockout stages of the World Cup and look how good he was for us
To suggest Dobbie isn’t or shouldn’t be a serious contender for the role is utterly ridiculous.
I personally think he’d be brilliant with an experienced older head supporting him
I’ve been saying this for weeks. Too many far too quick to give the job to a guy who (through no fault of his own) was asked to step in to a situation which he was never going to extract is from. He had an impossible job and could play no consequences football as we were adrift and had no chance. If Dobbie gets the job, it’s either desperate or clueless. Some of our fans need to be more ambitious, demand more and be far less sentimental.Must take up an opinion on how he's TRANSFORMED the way we play................excuse me, on the back on Mick McCarthy, anyone who knows anything about football could have transformed us. That's not the same as recruiting a squad, hiring and firing, making tactical decisions, taking loan players, changing things at half-time, all the nuances required of a manager. Dobbie did well yes, but he was hardly set a high-bar based on the previous incumbents.
Dobbie is an ex-player, hence the love in for him on this site. Fact is, he was overlooked by Sadler for Mick McCarthy, he's got zero experience in the transfer market, has never experienced a league season in terms of strategy, squad management, man management, discipline, tactics, rotation of players.
We need a proper manager, not a gift appointment based on sentimentality. And let's face it, that's all it is. Sentimentality.
If you want Dobbie, you want stagnation, you lack ambition, and you want your head testing.
Let's get someone with a proven track record, someone who knows League 1, Karl Robinson would be a great shout.
Dobbie is great as a youth-team coach, but he's not spear-heading my club any time yet, no chance, no thanks.
These are the posts that make me want Dobbie as manager even more. For him to be appointed, us have a great season , playing fresh zesty football with a team containing various players that no one had heard of before the season started .I’ve been saying this for weeks. And posts like yours are the ones that make me want him even less. Fresh zesty football? Must have been watching different games to you, get someone in youngish with a track record, yes even Karl Robinson he’s young experienced from the north west. Not someone learning on the job whose mistakes impact our club, we‘re not some bloody tinpot club that no one’s bothered about and can afford to give him 3 years to get his arse in gear, we’re the mighty Pool. We need to hit the ground running next season. Don’t be coming to me halfway through the season saying yes I know we’re 15th 20 points of the play offs but we’ve blooded a few youngsters so in a few years time we’ll be good to go. Can’t be doing with any manager who cracks on he has a long term plan it’s just bullshit playing for time and a ready made excuse for crap results. It’s a results game for the first team if the club wants to go down that line hopefully the club will inform us so we can take a sabbatical until such time we intend to compete again. These are the posts that make me want Dobbie as manager even more. Love an underdog . Especially someone starting something unexpected and succeeding .
