Blackpool v Coventry City Official Matchnight Thread 17.08.21

Obviously Cardiff are a higher standard than the physical, long ball teams in League 1but I thought they were worse to watch than any team I saw play in our division last season.
Never engaged in a period of passing the ball themselves, if we got forward with the ball they would either do the little technical fouls or just scythe our players down if necessary!
All about long throws and set pieces and never letting the game flow, all teams entitled to play however they see fit but I begrudge saying they were a higher standard.
I'll give them a higher standard of shit housery! Didn't think Bristol City were very good either and if we had more of our players available I think we could have beaten them.

Not for me that, I'm willing to give Cardiff more credit.

Style of play, physical strength, the officials, we can go into all the individual details but they were much too good for us on the day.

That's not to say, we are going to get relegated and we won't necessarily finish behind Cardiff, I just think that they should be given credit for the job they did.

No good getting beat and saying the side that beat you employed chit housery, if they out chithouseried - is that a word ? - us then we need to address that but it wasn't just that, they totally outplayed us.

Tonight's a different game though and we go again.

Up the Mighty.

Not my sort of football 2020 but they are totally at liberty to play that way. I agree with you in so far as they deserved the win because they were better at their type of football than we were at ours. We need to learn, improve and probably need 3 players better than anything we currently have.

Here's a left field. We all know NC picks horses for courses, suppose Saturday's team, which turned out to be the wrong one for that game, is the one he considers best placed for tonight?

Personally I hope not, I'd like 2-3 changes in the starting line. But who knows what Critch has assessed in Cov and how to exploit it.

Tonight’s officials as per EFL website

Great that Lavery is playing

Not sure on the midfield though

Wouldn't surprise me if he puts Keshi in the midfield with a front 3

Will soon see ....

That`s much closer to the team that many were calling for on Saturday except Marvin is still missing so it will be very interesting to compare tonight`s performance with Saturday`s. Let`s hope they can win tonight.

That's not Keoghs fault, he has no option in midfield, he had 4 cov players infront with a little space and 4 blackpool players all on the attacking line. We have no transition from the front to the back apart from hoof

Keogh is poor - we’ve gone from an exciting young Prem star (Ballard) to an old cart horse with a criminal record!

Last season we looked good going forward but we’re solid at the back - I still think we look good going forward but the whole defence looks shambolic!
