Billy Sharp

I would have him here in a heartbeat.

Doesn't need to rely on his pace so has another couple of years left in him at least. As other's have said, could we afford his wages?

I think he would see us as an ideal club to join plus he knows how good his record is against us.

Keep him fit, look after him and the benefit would be two-fold. Imagine how much he would help the likes of Joseph, Lavery and Beesley. Given he pretty much always scores at Bloomfield Rd, he'd be guaranteed 23 goals! 😂
Unfortunately, they would be all own goals🤦‍♂️😜

No Chance! We are little Blackool we don't do WoW signings...Actually we don't really do signings unless they are on loan, over the hill or injury prone.
Pennington, Norburn, Morgan, Joseph, all permanent, not injury prone and far from over the hill, not sure you thought this through did you?

But I do love the irony of you talking about signing over the hill players then describing Billy Sharp who'd be comfortably the oldest player in our squad as a WOW signing 🤡

Oh, it's absolutely fascinating when people comment on footballers they haven't actually seen play. It's like they've unlocked some sort of infinite knowledge and can pass judgment on their skills without ever witnessing a single minute of action. These virtuosos of faux expertise are masters at conjuring up elaborate opinions based solely on hearsay, statistical analysis, and YouTube highlights. Who needs the tedious task of actually watching games when you can simply rely on second-hand information? I mean, why bother forming an opinion based on firsthand experience when you can regurgitate clichés and spout offwell-rehearsed arguments? Because we all know that there's nothing quite as satisfying as pretending to be an authority on a subject you have zero real knowledge about. Bravo, my dear armchair critic. Your insight is truly unparalleled.

We aren't 'Blackool' at all and we make very good signings: Yates (remember him?), Andy Lyons and now Pennington, Joseph and Norburn - all of whom will be top players for us, I reckon.

As for pretending to be an authority; how do you know that our new signings are injury prone?

And your throw-away remarks such as "we don't do WOW signings" is quite inspiring as well...not!

Rotherham, Derby, Coventry and Hull all after him so not really a chance of him coming to the gold coast.
Plus if I were Beesley, Lavery or Joseph I'd be a bit pissed of knowing that the equivalent of a footballing OAP would probably get the nod to get in the team before them😬

Good point but are Beesley,Lavery and Joseph proven goal scorers because Billy Sharp is.

They don’t have the right mentality then for football, if that was the case.

Paul Scholes retired and came back and went straight into the Utd team.

It's a dummy spitting flounce of the highest order 🤣🤣

I'd sign the little bastard to stop him scoring against us. Brilliant player.

In the Kevin Phillips mould of players you just appreciate as being brilliant strikers. Was a bit of a knob with the Wrexham stuff last year mind.

I suspect hjs next move will be somewhere he will play fairly often. Would he really get much game time for Coventry and Ipswish in the Championship. Then there's Rotherham and their brand of football, but that would be the easy move in terms of proximity to home. Derby would also be an easy move and would probably be able to offer more money. The chances seem slim to me but I'd be surprised if we didn't show an interest.

Well he’s certainly close to the crest of the hill and he does get hurt more than he used to do so maybe we have a chance. Very underrated player.

I think if he does join a League One side then their chance of promotion increases massively.

Reading between the lines, I reckon he'll stay Yorkshire based ...

ROTHERHAM United will have to wait a little longer if they are to strike a deal with veteran striker Billy Sharp.

Manager Matt Taylor has admitted that the centre-forward, a prolific scorer for years at Championship level is on the Millers' recruitment radar as they gear up for a second successive season in the second tier.

However, Sharp, who won't be short of offers after leaving Sheffield United and becoming a free agent, has revealed he won't be deciding on his next destination until some time next month.

"The question I’ve had a thousand times is: ‘Are you signing for these or these?’ I honestly don’t know," he told the Advertiser's sister paper, the Sheffield Star. “If I did and something was concrete I’d be open and say something.

"Hopefully in the next few weeks I’ll be sorted and I can concentrate on the next step of my career."

The 37-year-old has scored well over 250 goals as a pro and was gutted to be released this summer by the Blades - his boyhood club - following their promotion to the Premier League.

37 years young
Critchley spots young talent and improves it, that is his strength
No chance that this will happen

We have tried this sort of thing before and it usually hasn't worked well, off the top of my head,
Bardsley, Sheedy, O Hara, Alan Ball, McDougall, Sumerbee etc.

The only one that did work well was Kevin Phillips from what I can remember
A star looking at retirement and a last pay day rarely comes good at any club IMO
So no thanks from me

Add Willie Morgan to that list.
We really were the seaside retirement club.

Paul Simpson and Ian Marshall spring to mind.
