Yorkies vs Lancs

96 for 0 at lunch. That'll do as the Yorkies like to say apparently.
Excellent by the openers after losing the toss and being put into bat.
Jennings with more of the strike, so Davies on 49 off just 86 balls.
Edit, Davies reaches his 50 just after lunch

With a day and a half to go, and over 300 on the board having lost a full day, I think a teatime declaration might be the way to go. Bowl them out twice and that will do. Might nip down this evening.

Yep, hope we dont bat for too long and end up drawing like the match we dominated against Kent

That can't be right, surely? As things stand a draw makes us champions (four overs to go on bonus points). It's in our interest if it stays like that to bat and bat as long as we can and deny them the chance to take lots of batting points..

Win, crush their dreams and ambitions.

When the teams advance to the 1st division, each county will then play a further four matches. They will not play the side they have already faced twice in the pool stage for a third time. Instead, the points accrued from those matches will be carried over.

Hadn't appreciated that TP, cheers.

As things stand, if this is a draw we just need to get within one bonus point of them in their first innings to win our pool. We have got three from our innings, they have none.

Technically it is half the points accrued against the other team that are carried forwards to the next stage. At present Lancs will have 12 points and Yorks 1. I don`t think this is a result pitch in the forecast future sunny conditions , so wouldn`t be surprised if Lancs bat on and just give Yorks 50 or so overs tomorrow to try and reach 200 for a single batting point. More chance of quick wickets and bonus points than quick runs taking risks for bonus points.

I see Mahmood is having another good game for England. Another likely loss to the England squad when we play at the upper level?

Good for the batsmen to get some time in the middle but let's get bowling now and get these 3 bowling points in the bag.

Jimmy will want more wickets and Bailey hasn't played for a bit so will chomping at the bit to get a bowl 👍

Gets worse for Yorks. Leech, a bowler, stretchered off after a nasty collision with a concrete surround. Early tea taken 413-2

Areas of the ground deemed unfit for play. Looks like the lad slipped and maybe parts of the outfield are damp, but it’s a sports injury and I’m struggling to understand how one slip can stop play. It was perfectly ok, before he slipped.

I can’t see any work being done on the area in question.

And the injury was caused beyond the field of play by the fielder crashing into a barrier. This is nonsensical.

I thought the injury occured off the pitch, not on the bowler run up? If it is abandoned Yorks should be docked points

The accident was indeed off the pitch, so it all seems a bit strange suddenly inspecting a totally different area. Very poor communication.

I hope the lad is OK, umpires probably felt they had no option. In the context of the game, suit us down to the ground. I expect us to bat on tomorrow.

Not been following it. Sound as though there has been a few going s on in the match. There is loads of free Cricket available this season online. I have dipped in and out of it.

Not a drop of rain all day, and play starts for a couple of hours before the umpires decide it's not fit for play. Shades of Dicky Bird having rows with spectators at a sunny day at a Test match. Hope the lad who slid into the advertising is OK, but it seems an excessively cautious decision.
