Would you want an artificial pitch at BFC?

Certainly can understand why non league clubs do it, but saddened by how many there were in the FA Cup.
A massive NO from me.

The quality of them has increased massively, and as their chairman said, it's used over 100hrs a week.

Great source of income - the FL need to reconsider.

I’m sorry, but “Great Source Of Income”?

So what!!

It might also be a great source of income to put greenhouses on the pitch and grow tomatoes all year round, but it’s not what it’s intended for!!

They were banned for good reason and they ruin the game… A massive NO 👎

Agree they are not suitable for EFL.

But at National League and below, the income from hiring out such pitches enables clubs to remain in business and also run lots of junior teams giving kids an introduction to the game and regular exercise.

And the football played on these pitches in the National League and down to level 7 is ok. You have to get the ball down and play. You can’t simply hoof it.

I don’t see it as a valid trade off for any team tbh. The priority purpose of any Club’s pitch should be for use on Matchday.

Any decent standard of football should be played on grass imo. To that extent I’d ban any club with plastic from featuring in the FA cup for a start.

They may be crap for bigger clubs, but as the Bromley chairman pointed out on Saturday, it's a community asset that can be used all year round, brings the club income and they aren't having to fork out on groundsmen, re turfing etc each year.

Would I want tone at Blackpool? No.

Wembley, Man City, Aston Villa and Real Madrid use pitches that have a substantial amount of artificial fibres woven into the grass. It's the future, especially when the cost comes down as it becomes commonplace.

I remember the Arsenal pitch when we played them in the Prem - was immaculate - a blend of grass and synthetic is clearly the best surface for our football season.

I think they can feature but should always be drawn away.

It’s a clear advantage, we did well Saturday to win the game 1st half on it.

I’d say that there should be a grace period on the pitches when teams get promoted of say three years so they either get properly established in League Two and their revenue streams can accommodate it, or if they stop back again quickly then don’t lose their opportunity for financial and community support int he non leagues.

There’s no place for plastic at Championship and League One level though.
