...go into meltdown every time something remotely negative happens? Let's have some ** perspective.
Jerry has been our best striker in a decade and a fan favorite so losing him hurts, but it isn't the end of the world.
We will have made more than 10x what we bought him for and will now have money to bring in quality players to replace his production. In fact, I'm glad this is happening now so that we can sort out the replacement in time for the upcoming season.
We don't know what the fee is and we probably never will as it will be undisclosed. However, having already rejected 2.5m in June, I feel confident that the number is higher than that. We managed to get 4m (with add-ons) for Bowler when he had less than 9 months left on his contract so I am certain we will have gotten as close as possible to the most for Jerry.
Last season we invested our money poorly and were relegated because of it, but the business we have done so far is more than enough to make me believe we will reinvest wisely. The recruitment team is also much stronger now with Critchley and Downes.
Seen some say that this bottles our chance at promotion, which is absurd. You don't go up on the back of one player, especially one that wasn't favored by the current manager when we comfortably finished mid table in the Championship.
The spine of our team is still incredibly good and I am more than confident that this board and recruitment team will put the money to good use to make the team even stronger.
The sky isn't falling, our chances this season haven't dropped off a cliff, take a deep breath and look at the big picture here.
Have some faith and don't immediately look at the glass as half empty, because this season is stil going be great. UTMP.
