Which current players will miss the cut

Lubala and Garbutt definetly. I like Thorniley and feel we should keep him in the 25. Keshi also has his merits despite being inconsistent. Was one of our best performers early last season before he got injured. CJ can go for me. Not good enough for this level but he isn’t as bad as some people make him out to be. Will be a cracking league one signing for someone

I also hear rumblings that Madine isn’t fancied by Appleton by a few of the podcasts so that could be a surprise omission to the 25 but he does offer something different to what we have already upfront. Similar ilk to Beesley but is our most experienced forward at this level and held the line very well when called upon at times last season. QPR at home for example

I think Tharme will be loaned out. Do we have to name 3 keepers. Can we name Grimmy, Max and an under 21 and keep Moore to add if we get an injury ?

I think it will depend on injuries and fitness, AFAIK the club is not required to name the entire 25-man squad on 31 August, they can leave a few spaces spare and fill them at a later date, it's likely that there'll be a few long-term injuries and that will guide the final additions to the squad.

People complain about having no full backs then want to get rid of a full back.

I can see Moore and Tharme being loaned out. Quite possibly Beesley as well if the right forward becomes available.

Lubala, Dale and CJ just aren't consistent or good enough in my view. I can see some/all finding new clubs before the window closes.

Dale, Tharme, Garbutt, Lubala and Stewart who rarely seems to be available.
But we have 7 league and one cup game in July/August before the list is finalised.

Surely we need a 3rd keeper? Grimshaw or Maxwell get injured and then we’re going into games with no keeper on the bench or having to play with one of them in all the cup fixtures.

As much as I love to see outfield players in goal I’d rather keep Moore about on the off chance we need him.

Husband has the advantage of versatility. Against him, I don't know how long he's out for.

Sorry Moore does not count as he does not need to be a named player in 25 man squad as U21

I think it may go into the first week in September, allowing for a few days following the end of the Prem window.

Depends on whether we make any more signings really.

By my calculations we have (age in brackets)

Maxi (31) Grimmy (24) Moore (27)

Gabriel (23) Keogh (35) Marv (26) Williams (21) Garbs (29) Thompson (22) Thorniley (25) Tharme (22) Husband (28)

Connolly (24) Dougall (29) Stewart (28) Virtue (25) Fiorini (20) Carey (21) Anderson (27) Bowler (23) CJ (27) Dale (23)

Jerry (25) Lavery (23) Madine (31) Beesley (25) Bez (24)

That’s 27 instead of 25

We can also have under 21s

Bange (20) Apter (19) Holmes (19) Moore (18) Hughes (18) Mariette (18) Trusty (18) Strawn (18) Squires (18) Daniels (17) etc..

So the question is do we leave spaces for new signings and if so how many do we offload.

Probably loans for Tharme, Dale, Bez maybe CJ and if injured I would leave out Stewart.

It would be a mistake not to have three keepers as last season showed.

We should definitely keep Thorniley but I would look to offload Garbutt and Dale and I would also look to sell Anderson, he really does flatter to deceive. I think CJ will stay and if we were going to get rid of a forward it would be Lavery for me, another who flatters to deceive and doesn't offer anything like what Yates does.

Luballa will go and I think Stewart will be given the season as they can release him next summer, if only we could get him to be able to play a long run of games, there isn't a better midfielder at the club. They may leave him out of the 25 until January though if his injury is going to be long term.

I don't think Gabriel will go anywhere and we should be doing everything in our power to keep Bowler, push the boat out on aa new contract he's much better being with us rather than playing against us.

That would release 5 and if CJ isn't deemed good enough then 6.

Lavery needs to get game time where his team mates give him chances. He is not guilty of many glaring misses and too often is out on the wing not where he can cause damage with late runs into the box.
I think the midfield will push up and that will help him tremendously. A few one to one's with Dobbie would not go amiss

Please tell me you’re joking? He’s defensively awful. Husband may not give you the attacking threat but that’s what midfielders are for
Husband is a walking yellow card every game, instantly puts us under pressure… and for anyone saying he’s versatile enough to play centre half, give me a break
