When loanees/ooc players leave - what’s left..

Rhodes and Dembele have been instrumental this season. Thinking of what players we have left (for next season) the best team I can put together playing Chritch’s (as he’s still going to be here) beloved 3 5 2 is:

Grimmy
Pennington
Casey (Marv out of contract)
Will Squires (Husband OOC)
Gabriel
Norburn
Morgan
Lyons
Apter (Carey OOC)
Joseph
Beesley/Kouasi

The subs bench would be full of Development players and CJ if a seat needed warming so no real depth to the squad.

The system needs quality players who pass and move out from the back like Peterborough. We just don’t have those players in key positions I.e. across the back for starters.

So if SS is to stick with Critch and his System it’s gonna cost big time!!

I think that is still the basis for a decent league one team although we would obviously need additions. A quality striker for sure unless we can persuade Rhodes to stay on (although he would be a year older).
Apter you would think could play the Dembele role. Need at least one ball playing CB if we are going to carry on with this three at the back shitshow.
Midfield is an issue as there is no way Norburn is good enough for a team looking at promotion.
My feeling is the best addition for next season would be a new manager
 
I personally I think we are carrying a lot of deadwood so wholesale changes isn't the end of the world.
Carey has an option so that will be taken up, not sure if anyone else does.
Overall i think we have the basis for a decent squad but we'll need 7/8 players as numbers are low.
 
My side of those players we know are under contract for next season would be (In the 352 as I cant see Critch leaving).

That is the bones of a decent squad, add 5 or 6 new additions and a decent manager would get results.

Room for more dead wood,along with the excuse,the new players need to bed in.
 
The first thing that needs to happen is for Critchley (I unhappily assume he will be here next season) & the recruitment team to sit down & discuss the style of play we will be planning (what formation / plan a / plan b etc). Then an aligned squad can take shape. Not the mish mash that season, where Critchley has narrow-mindedly ploughed on with his plan a, & a recruitment team who have brought players in without a thought of whether Critchley can coach them to play his plan a. Which numerous have shown they cannot !
 
When Critch admits to himself the ssason is now a dead duck yhen he should be getting development players blooded
