When is it time for the Board to Act ?

I fully appreciate we have had a truly crazy amount of injuries, suspensions and now an illness, but probably so have other teams as well.
We showed, no passion, no cohesion, no desire. It’s not the first time, and won’t be the last time.
So the question is, who is responsible for the present state of play, and who needs to change their behaviours or needs to go.
If we get relegated, the club would lose so much money, from lack of season tickets, to merchandise especially when they need the income to put into place the infrastructure we do desperately need

Backing a manager with investment in Summer helps with sustaining yourself in the championship. Which we point blank refuse to do.

I don't find it to be that good of an excuse anyways.

Struggling to find anyone who is injured/suspended who contributes anything of any meaning.

Maybe just Connolly?

I’m on the fence on this one. Seen managers sacked for a lot less but hard to judge with awful backing from the board.

Something isn’t right currently though

He’s obsessed with one number 6 and two number 8s. If we were top of the league maybe we’d get away with it but we’re not. We’re far too easy to play against.

What’s gone wrong ?

Can you afford to pay Appleton off ?

Looked very good at home to watford and you were scoring goals for fun against the likes of sheff u and pne .

Think you will stop the rot at Wigan ?

A defeat at Wigan and he has to go, for me. We are utterly clueless with no game plan at all. Players individually aren’t good enough unfortunately but it is the same team, more or less, than last year and we are getting worse.

For me I look at it and ask the question are we better than last season, and the answer is no. That’s enough for me to decide his time is up.

Not the managers fault, that squad has been built on the cheap, grant ward we released because he wasn’t good enough then let him train with us and told him we weren’t going to sign him then signed him until Jan because he was cheap and the reason he’s cheap is because he’s a league 1 plodder.
Bridcutt waste of time
Theo the most inconsistent man ever.
Yates has decided he’s going back to start of the season form.
Marv is in the worst form he’s ever been for us.
Patino and Carey not physical enough in there together, got bullied.
Dougal, plodder
Dom Thompson erratic.

We decided we were losing the game before a ball was kicked and that’s just not good enough for us who spend a hell of a lot of time and money watching us.

So much investment is needed in the playing squad it’s scary.

Zero positives.

Plus £6 million in Championship money gone. False economy if ever there was.

But most of those things are the manager’s fault

Appleton will never win the fans over so what’s the point in dragging it on. It’s an inevitable downward spiral so what’s to lose getting rid apart from the hefty 4 year compensation….

So if fit you’d leave out Stewart, Bridcutt, Fiorini, Gabriel, Thorniley as none of them would contribute?

The manager has to take some of the responsibility.

Even when weve had enough experienced players out there there's been many games of complete disorganisation.

Yes bad injuries, unlucky, poor window, but we've had enough out there to do far better than we have.

No cohesion in many games, defensively weak and gifting goals.

I didn't go. I went on Saturday and watched a manager I hate (the Welsh barsteward) nick 3 points against an uninspiring Pool. WBA was another game I attended .I put that down to 2 poor teams with the home team nicking it.
Today I thought I can't face a 120 mile round trip to Bloomfield to watch another loss(it could be me,I might be a jinx).
Good decision I think. I can now blame Appleton.
But just in case anybody thinks I,m not an Appy fan (which I wasnt) he and the team have given me 3 of the best games I've seen in many years of following the mighty.
Burnley, Sheffield Utd ,and Preston were all extra special.
My thoughts are now mixed up ,is it the team, the injuries, the tactics, Maxwell, or Uncle Tom Cobley.?
Looking forward now to Wigan and a wonderful well deserved win UTMP!

Madine???????
Gaz is a major problem for us, with his limited contribution, but more importantly what he takes away from us as an attacking force. Jerry is one of the best strikers in the Championship, and he’s playing a hybrid role that is part wide midfield part fullback. A complete waste.

In this formation he has to play centrally, then we’ll see the link play between the front 3 and midfield. I’m afraid MA has fallen into the same trap as NC, over-using big Gaz.

Grimmy has to come back in. Maxwell makes some great stops, but routed to his line and cannot command his box.

The thread is titled when should the board act well the board should have acted in the summer and spent some money on some proper championship players. We sold bowler and critch went we got a few quid in and decided to sign grant ward and bridcutt, pisstake.
Totally agree the board should have made more of an effort in the summer and shouldn’t have signed a second rate manager and put him on a ridiculous contract.

On a whole the players aren’t bad. Just performing badly. That’s down to the coaches surely
Sorry but the bulk of our players are league one at best.
Half the squad are either walking sick notes stealing a living or just haven’t got it to play in the championship.
Our best player by a country mile was sold on the last day of the transfer window and was never replaced just who the fuck thought that one up? 🤷‍♂️

I am not an outer yet but this obsession with 4-3-3 that clearly doesn't work more times than it works is beyond a joke.
Even Quitchly sussed that one out.
4-3-3 is fine as long as you don’t play a big tall striker who can’t press. Oh…

The midfielders are all over the place. They’d been even more fucked in a 4-4-2.

No formation will work if the players aren’t good enough.

It could take 3, 4 or 5 years to get back to the Championship too. Let's hope it's not 29 years the time before last!

Not sayin for I’m to go, but the best time would deffo after Wigan game so a new manager would have abit of time to bed in

What I don’t get is when Mansford said they knew it would be an unpopular appointment so why did they then? The manager fan relationship is so important so to ignore that shows a complete lack of judgement in my eyes.

Personally, I’d like the board to act now or in the morning. 100% action if we lose at Wigan on Saturday.
The 7 point haul from Watford/Nobbers/ Sheff Utd glossed Appleton’s card.

Have to question tonight why a “specialist “ full back didnt play at right back (albeit meaning a left footer on the right) ?

MA is not going to be able to reach the points target he had set for him to achieve by the World Cup break. He’s fallen short by some way.

Mitigating circumstances do play a factor and the board have acknowledged privately that some of the signings in the summer, even at this early stage are not good enough and they’ve basically dropped a bollock on a couple, but relegation isn’t going to be blindly accepted.

If we dont come out firing after the WC break I don’t think he’ll be with us by the Sheff U televised game……

The question Sadler needs to ask himself is, would another coach/Manager get any more out of the players than Appleton is.
If his answer is yes, then he needs to sack him, if it’s no, then he needs to back him, because the way it is at the minute, the club is in serious trouble.
