What music genre

Music is there to be loved ! I've been fortunate to travel a lot as a musician. Love most of it, dislike some but music is about opinion, you either like it or you don't, it's never shit ! There are a few comments on this thread disregarding rap etc. My son asked me to watch straight out of Compton with him, the film is the bollocks and rap is ** excellent in my new opinion !

Unpopular choice but mostly UK hiphop and lofi
lofi really cool, on the other hand love Skepta, Wiley, Krept & Kronan, etc. Used to listen to ā€œ Fire in the Boothā€ on 1Xtra, donā€™t know if itā€™s still going. But listen to 1Xtra everyday.

I love Luther and George benson and Robert palmer and Alexander oneill and all that type of soul music I grew up with.

I also love American soft rock such as hall and Oates etc.

Canā€™t stand punk or metal. Itā€™s just grating noise to me.

I like smooth when in my taxi. Or greatest hits radio.

I took my daughters to a festival a few years ago. We saw Sigma, rudimental, clean bandit and labyrinth.

Labyrinth was amazing so I bought his album. I was blasting it out when I pulled up to a physio on Lytham road and parked outside their front windows. The receptionist asked what I was playing and said it sounded like something her daughter listened to. I said ā€˜oh - itā€™s just that Iā€™m into electronic dance musicā€™. I then took my seat to wait for my appointment and realised how weird i must have sounded. šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

Nice one mate, I used to listen to a bit of 1xra myself. I tend to listen to instrumental hiphop or rappers who resonate with the 90s. I also listen to a lot of rare & obscure music like 70s Italian psych rock or relaxing and soulful music like smooth jazz and soul. Im usually searching for something I can sample and use I'm my own tracks as I like making music in my spare time.

Lots of great stuff out there, keep on sampling! šŸ‘

I do think back with fondness sometimes to the embryonic days of the punk rock, where parents across the country shook their collective heads, and uttered the phrase 'bloody hell lad...... that's not music, it's just bloody noise..!'
However......
Just WTF is 'drill' music.....?

Just a quick rant from me there about summat I know nothing about, but finds me wishing I had a grenade to lob through the open car window of the car it eminates from...... šŸ¤¬
Anyway, rant mode off, so let's have a look at the music genres that brings me joy on a daily basis.
Upon checking my Spotify account, I can confidently say that my taste encompasses genres from right across the board.
Everything from 50's R&R, and big band swing, through to r&b, soul, northern soul, indie bands and rock.
If I come across a piece of music that has an 'interesting' or reasonably challenging drum groove that I can 'jam' along to, then it is downloaded and filed in an ever growing playlist....!
Luv music me... šŸ¤£
