missing keogh organisation at back
loss of creative flair of josh bowler
more individual mistakes
having to play some players out of position
more loans

Defence is nowhere near as organised and solid. To be honest, this feels more reminiscent of a Blackpool side we've been used to watching - we have NEVER been good defensively, it was positively alien.

It's a lot more exciting. Critchley had his way and it worked for us but if you listen to Villa fans they are not happy.
Ponderous passing between defenders, very predictable, no movement in midfield or up front, typical comments from Villa fans.
Appleton has been unlucky with injuries, if we get players fit and cut out the stupid unforced passing errors we might do better than last season.
So the main difference to me appears to be more game time for Yates and a bolder approach that leaves us more vulnerable at the back.

Firstly regarding the negatives. We were always going to lose JB. We were playing square pegs in round holes last season as well, partly because of injuries but also Critch tinkering. This season it's been forced by numerous injuries. Personal errors were a feature of last season also.

Positives. I agree about the number of loans, but we've recruited very high quality players this time. Don't know if it's Appleton, or that it's our second season in the championship, but I don't feel we'd have got the quality of Patino last season (TJJ anyone?). Pretty much agree with the rest, especially about Jerry.

We just need to start our recruitment as early as possible when/before the loanees return to their clubs. We can't afford another poor summer.

Braver to attack,

not quite as organised as a unit,

if we’d kept bowler we’d be possibly another 6 points better off.

Can’t afford to turn that money down was my personal opinion at the time

but

possibly it would of been a financial and safer decision to keep him (if he would of stayed🤷‍♂️) (In reality he would of probably wanted the move🤷‍♂️).
