We've had a 'Save the Day' for Saturday 18 May 2024

Tell her Sorry, but you already have a provisional Save the Day invite from BFC!
I was due to get married on the day we played Orient at Cardiff in 2001 but as the season ended I could see us sneaking into the play-offs so I rung the the wedding venue and the night venue and luckily for me they had the following Saturday still available so I changed the date.

I then had to tell the missus that if she still wanted to get married on the playoff final day she'd look a right ** as she would be waiting a while for me to turn up and most of the guests. She was actually OK about it to be fair.

It was a glorious 90F in Cardiff but pissed it down when we got married which she's never fully got over and a week raving in Ayia Napa didn't go down to well when I surprised her with the honeymoon venue.

Anyway were still married but she knows I love BFC more than her mind u I love PNE more than her to be honest🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

My Dad left a wedding reception between courses and left my mum sat there on her own at her best friends wedding to take me to my first game in 1971 . She never let him forget it!

Brother in law and wife got married on the Play Off Day in 2010 and caused no end of dispute in our house.
I decided I had to go to Wembley and managed to get to the evening do for 9pm.
Win/Win/Win because not only did I see us promoted but a few years down the line I divorced my wife and he divorced his wife .. always put football first kids!

This was my brothers wedding day and as best man i was expected to attend and under the threat of being written out of my mums will if i didn't, i did actually attend but did start my speech by announcing the score to rapturous applause from my Norwich City supporting cousins! Speech went down hill after that as you struggle with material when you have a tee total vegetarian for the subject matter....

Wife's cousin is getting married and she's had a save the day invite for 18/05/24 - at what point do I break the news that's the League One Play Off final 🥴
I think it will be the following weekend, tying in with the bank holiday.

Good try to get out of it, but you'll just have to go and spend on buying a toaster or whatever it is people get these days.
