We're in a great place.

-We have our head coach (only need his backroom staff announced).

-DOF will be announced within a few days (and has probably already been working behind the scenes as Sadler said that he has already been hired).

-All of the sick notes (many of whom took up huge wages) from last season are gone with a solid core remaining to build on. We have a real chance to create an even better team than what we had last time we were down here.

-No matter what happens with Jerry we will benefit massively; he stays and we have a 20+ goal scorer, he leaves and we have 4m+ to spend.

-Sadler was very clear on what the goal is this season in that interview; promotion. No consolidating or steadying the ship, he wants us right back up and I don't think Critchley would have agreed to come back if Sadler didn't guarantee money to spend.

And it's only May 23rd, we are ahead the curve and are perfectly poised to get off to a great start in the Summer window. That interview from Sadler has really given me great confidence that he is still 110% committed to the club and ready to do everything in his power to turn around the on field performances.

Couldn't be more excited for the upcoming season. 🍊

Time for the club to turn on the charm offensive now.

Get pumping out positive media, videos etc, tbh I'd be putting most or all of that interview on YT and twitter.
Get in touch with fans via emails etc, reminders to renew or buy.
Remind fans of the goal, we're going for promotion, as its what people want to see and hear.
Sign some good players.
Put a deal in place for the 1st game, obviously this is for later on after ST sales finish, but put a deal in to fill the stadium like when SS 1st arrived.

It's been a bit of a dead few weeks but it can all be turned around fast with some of the above and more.

Couldn't agree more, now is the time to start cooking.

Noticed already that the club Twitter account has put out multiple Tweets after Critch's announcement.

Hope it continues.

This is exactly what we needed… A manager who is onboard with the longer term strategy and who is capable of getting the max out of his squad…

Much better than Sulky Appleton, who spent most of his tenure tripping over his bottom lip and Clueless Mick, who was a tactical non-entity.

Young, enthusiastic and with a point to prove and we still have Dobbie in situ developing our youngsters and offering a sense of continuity moving fowards.

Plenty of positive changes all round and some fresh ideas and faces in the boardroom too. 👍

I'm all for positivity and backing people but i also like realism and honesty, and i wouldn't describe the place we are in as great, I dont think.

The interview with SS and NC captured two men in a room who have both had an annus horribilis, and have got together to try to bail each other out and recreate past success. I'm not doubting that they will but it's a very different start from last time. Grayson came back to us after a 10 year gap in a very different state of mind to the first time. Experience can harm.people as well as improve people. NC returns a bit chastened aftef Villa and QPR.

SS seems to have lost his way too, and he's lost his team. And hes sent the chap who returned the smiles at the end of the season back to his old job it feels like another error of judgement to me. Another nose out of joint. Opportunity knocked, a fresh direction, new energy, but SS preferred again to stick the old trousers on, for comfort and familiarity over style.

We should be one of the stronger sides next season in theory and i am a fan of what NC does as a coach, on the whole. I think the players will like having him back. But all our attacking quality bar Jerry has gone so we dont know what our side will look like.

Hopefully the squad will be rebuilt properly and the board of directors fleshed out with good people, but there's a lot of work to do and SS needs to understand why last season went so wrong and why he ended it without BM, BG and Badlan so that we dont go down that road again.

'Is SS learning how to run a football club' is the key question i think. We dont know yet cos the rebuild has only just started. And the two reunited men in that interview both looked a bit nervous and affected by their recent experiences. Hoping to rebuild their own and each other's reputation.

Wow! thats more like it , something positive on here for a change

It definitely has the potential to go well, hopefully he's learnt the grass ain't always greener if it does start to go well again.

He'll restore the faith if we start getting results. Let's hope he does, up the pool 🍊

Not posted on here for ages , but I`m positive too for the future. Recruitment of players is now key . NC will have numerous new contacts and leads as will the new Sporting Director. Guys being interviewed will have been asked who they would realistically bring in as players. Remember 3 years ago Richie Wellens was asked that question and suggested Jerry and Keshi, a few more like that and the future will be so bright we will have to wear shades . UTMP.

I see what you're saying and agree to an extent; we haven't done anything yet, we're just in a great position to do so though.

The interview with SS and NC captured two men who were uncomfortable about getting in front of a camera and answering tough questions about both of their recent failures, which is to be expected of anyone who has to publicly discuss why they fucked up. It was very admirable IMO and necessary so they can both move forward.

Both sitting down and doing that really does show the extent with which both are willing to go to achieve success this season and win the fans over.

I think this appointment is less about what was comfortable for SS and more about who he thought would give us the best chance of short and long term success. This decision wasn't only made by himself either, with an external search firm agreeing with his decision to appoint NC.

I know it doesn't feel like a "fresh" start but it also fills me with great optimism having Critchley back, he worked wonders for us and he's returning only after 11 months of being gone, do you really think his experiences at QPR and Villa will have made him that worse? If anything I think it will in the long run help him as a manager.

We haven't done anything yet, but we're in a great position to rebuild the squad and really come into next season firing on all cylinders.

I'm ok with Critch coming back and we know what he can do with a group of players given a bit of backing. No reason he can't again really.

Admirable? Not sure. Pretty unavoidable really with a massive elephant in the room.

I actually think not appointing Dobbie is a bit cowardly. I'm not arsed about the inexperience, he perfomed way better than two very experienced coaches, despite having to do that with the wreckage they left behind. IMO a braver man would have said, "you know what Dobs, I'm gonna give you a go. You deserve it and we will give you all the support we can. Let's find a strong assistant to help wean you in."

They didn't have to do an interview like that though, they could have easily just released a statement and I think most fans would have accepted that.

Making themselves so vulnerable (by doing a 15 minutes interview) is what makes it admirable IMO and really shows the commitment both have to turning this around.

Don't think not appointing Dobbie was cowardly, I think it was just too soon, him deciding to stay on is a fantastic backup plan if anything goes wrong.

They could have just released a written statement but how weak would that have looked? It needed meeting head on. Which they did so fair enough. But I think they had to tbh.

SS indicated that SD has opted to return to the academy and I just worry a touch that it means he is a bit miffed.
