Vegan/Plant based Food

Is it me or is the above being pushed more than ever at the moment? Most food adverts are vegan/plant based and they are really trying to get people into this.

Makes me wonder if eating meat will be rare in many years to come and I am willing to predict within 10-15 years a major brand or takeaway will be completely meat free. Hope I am wrong on this but I do feel it is being majorly pushed for a reason.

There are some great health benefits of course from vegetables.

However, many of the vegan products available have horrific nutritional value masquerading as healthy options. They are overpriced and high in salt, sugars and fat to give it any semblance of taste.

The world of meat alternatives is a mine field. Be careful

I like my meat rare

I am not so sure it’s the case of the advertisers pushing it as a lifestyle I think it is more that they are chasing market share for their products amongst the growing numbers of mainly younger people committing to vegan and vegetarian lifestyles.

There are some very tasty frozen vegetarian and vegan fresh and especially frozen products available as a change from meat nowadays, but as Chunkylad says you need to be selective

Manufacturers and supermarkets are chasing this market, not leading it. Some products are excellent are excellent( Cauldron Lincolnshire style sausages, for one), some are appalling
