Unsporting Ozzie goalkeeper??

Outrageous and unsporting penalty shootout. Totally bizarre
Australia /Peru went to penalties after a fairly turgid match although Peru were the much more attractive team to watch. Not difficult.
Towards the end of extra time the Aussies bring on a, 'specialist' goalkeeper for the penalty shootout. Have a look on You tube. I've never seen anything like it. I understand that you do what you have to do you win a game but this guy danced about like a clown for every penalty. It went to sudden death and he saved a poor penalty.
Didn't look right to me. Made a mockery of the whole thing... And it was a final qualifier for the World Cup too. Any one else watched it and got views on it. Unsporting was my first reaction..
 
Couldn't believe what I was watching. The ref seemed to have a serious word after every comedy pen dance but, unperturbed, on he went cavorting about like a great bearded Ozzie loon
 
I dont feel all that dicking about did him any favours. the only spot he actually managed to get set for was the one he saved.
most of the penalties were pretty poor and been set properly and going the right way would have been far easier.
 
Didn't the Dutch do the same thing when Tim Krull went in nets to help them beat Costa Rica at the World Cup?

No problem with it for me as no rules have been broken and it's a great idea if it gets you to the big dance.
 
The West Brom goalie had nothing on that jammy bastard last night. I have never seen a goalie do antics like it.

It went to sudden death despite him not saving any of Peru’s first 5 pens (one of them hit the post).

Could just as easy have ended 5-4 to Peru and he would have looked a complete **

Australia are very fortunate to make the finals at all. I have followed them a little more and taken a greater interest with King Kenny being part of the setup and they have not been convincing in any way. If you read the forums, their fans particularly dislike Graham Arnold and some wanted them to miss out on the WC, so that they could get shot of him. Dont think Arnold staying in charge helps Kenny either, he's not a favourite of his it seems so whilst he may make the WC squad, he probably won't see much action.

Agreed, can only see them being comfortably beaten by both France and Denmark.

Yes, he kept that Aaron Mooy on despite him blowing out of his arse after 60 mins, Kenny would have been the ideal replacement.

Hes allowed to do what he likes as long as he stays on his line. Mind games are allowed in sport.
 
Ahh but did you watch it? Sports all about mind games agreed. Getting an edge, outpsyching golf mates, not making your chess moves til right on the buzzer etc. This keeper was a bearded, dancy chump. Worth a watch just for that

Yes i watched it. He just looked like an idiot.
 
He's going to the World Cup, made a match winning penalty save.

Was inventive with his technique when facing penalties and worked.

Job done well.

Move around so the penalty taker has less room for their shot.

Brilliant in my opinion as got his team to the world cup, earning his team millions of pounds.as well in the process and making himself a national hero.
