Tykes v Notlob Thread

Doesn't disprove my argument. We deserved to beat West Ham in the final in 2012. Just because the scoreline was 2-1 doesn't mean we didn't deserve to win
Is it still stinging from last week?

A game we HAD to win but couldn't and you still think we deserved a play off spot🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Barnsley have been in the top 6 for 30 odd of the 46 games this season.
Remind me again how many weeks were we in the top 6.😉👍🏻

Hit the nail on the head @Wizzerboy - we would have been put to the sword by Bolton which would've felt worse than what actually happened!

Irrespective of whether we'd have been battered or not, it makes me laugh when someone comes out with the statement 'we deserved ' that spot.

If anyone deserved it it was Lincoln who put a great run together at the end of the season but just fell short.
We couldn't even put a run of results together apart from the 4 for hope against the dregs of Cambridge, Fleetwood, Carlisle (all great 1-0 wins🙄) and a Barnsley team that had hit bad form at exactly the wrong time.

We whether deservedly or not had a chance to be in the top 6 & if the 2 league games against Bolton were a reflection of what the 2 playoff games could have been we’d have been in the final. If Critchley hadn’t been so intransigent in his beloved system I believe we’d have picked up a few more points. Get through to the final & it’s anybody’s, just who turns up on the day. With our record at least a 50:50. Now we face a summer of uncertainty in a few different ways, player retention, player recruitment & ownership off the field issues. The latter I don’t know enough about to understand how this will affect us. The prospects could be as gloomy as the weather today. Or on a more positive note we could have a much better season. Nobody really knows any different. Well apart from Sadler himself & I doubt he’ll break the vow of silence.

Interesting to recall our results against these two over the season .
Blackpool v Bolton won one lost one . 4-2 on aggregate to us . Also a penalty shootout win in the BSM cup
Blackpool v Barnsley won both games . 4-2 on agg . Also a 2-1 win in the BSM cup.
No reason whatsoever why we couldn’t have beaten either of these two in the playoffs.

And if the league result at oakwell during the season was a reflection it would have ended a draw against Bolton last night.
If memory serves, we were beaten at Oxford in the covid season, yet battered them in the playoffs.
It's stupid to say , "we beat them by whatever so we'll beat them again "
It doesn't work like that.

All I was saying was we would have had a chance. I’ve never professed to have a crystal ball. It’s a funny old game. Although not particularly hilarious at the moment. 👍

Bet td53 is watching Cosgrove tonight and having a few Gaz goals pangs😉👍🏻
So am I tbf. No messing with that cross. A big lad who smashes everyone out the way to put the ball in the net instead of looking flimsy and apologetic. Just a shame for him his defensive colleagues can't defend up the other end.

Barnsley away were by far the best team I witnessed all season. They just broke apart outside our box. Whether that be good defending or whatever, Ive no idea. But I thought they were a team with a plan and the players to do it. Obviously we had the measure of them.

Shows how football can be a simple game over complicated by idiots when you can just wang a ball in for the big lad to attack.

Quality diving header. Probably left it too late now mind.

Ian Evatt aged 20 years in the last 5 minutes.

Too late from Barnsley to finally wake up from their two month slumber.
