Trust the process.....

There seems to be a lot of negativity surrounding the possibility of Appleton being appointed..... Why!!! (By no means am I an Appleton fan, I am on the fence with it all), but:
1) Do we truly know whether this is even the case? All we have is press speculation, and lets be fair, they are just after click-bait.
2) People speculating that other managers have said No..... Why?? How do we know its not Us that have turned them down?
3) Do we actually know any of the Candidates... We see small snippets of their interviews (& let's face it, those interviews are generally when they are with another Club that We have little or no care about). I would like to think that Sadler & Mansford (both successful people) would have a better incline into the candidates personality, image, plans, transfer targets & thoughts a lot more than we do, and I am all for the multiple interviews that seems to be happening.
4) Appleton got Lincoln (a smaller club) to the verge of the Championship, only for us to prevent them, most likely on a much smaller budget. I appreciate Critchley then kept us up, but could Appleton have done the same with Lincoln?
5) The Rosenoir love-in (I must say I have been guilty myself): Why?? I appreciate he has built his way up (Player, Brighton, Derby) and done relatively well, but thats in a Number 2 role, where there is far less pressure, less stick from fans and lesser input to transfers (than a Manager).

I genuinely believe that this process will be the best choice for the Club as a whole, taking into account everything from the day to day running, player recruitment, downstream planning, ability to adapt and not swayed by public perception.

Maybe it's the negative vibes he gives out himself. He seems to be enveloped by a forcefield of gloom, does he not?

It seems not everyone can see it. Only those of us with that particular superpower. But have you ever seen him look happy? We want happy vibes, surely?

I wonder if the plan is to appoint Rosenior but with Applejack as his mentor? That could be an interesting concoction of old and new.

You spelt his name Rosenoir. Which means pinkblack. Maybe we've been snookered and Mansford is still weighing up all the angles off the cushions?

I've been struggling to find a thread about Appleton and then, per chance, I stumbled on this one.... Thank god someone has had the presence of mind to sort a thread out where we can all discuss him..

Much Appreciated

👍
This is not an Appleton thread - it's a 'trust the process' thread. 🤓

He's happy here.

'And you'll fuck off after 10 minutes and I'll eventually become one of their most hapless managers, dusty wissels man...'

I agree V.
Trust the process and sit tight, as we must get an outcome very soon & hopefully this week.
Then the fun will begin, where we can all have our say on the decision 🧡

We have to trust what Ben Mansford does and only listen to what Ben Mansford says because..,

That’s what Ben Mansford said we should do.

Sounds really good.

PS- Ben Mansford the former agent of Michael Appleton.

Ben Mansford is employed by Simon Sadler. Mr Sadler will make the final call. If you think Mansford could pull the wool over Sadler's eyes then you are mistaken. Trust the process 😉

I'll trust the process, and then kick off if I don't like the appointment. 👍

Til then, I'm staying serene.
I intend saying nothing about potential managers then I'm completely in the clear when it's :

A. A successful appointment that delivers promotion with great flowing football
B A disastrous appointment that sees us going down playing shocking hoofball.

Either way, I'll be able to claim I knew the outcome all along.

I can assure you that Mr Mansford is the man in control of the business and Mr Sadler employed him to be just that. If Mr Sadler wanted to make the decisions on the football side then why employ a very expensive CEO? Mr Sadler is a fan, a rich fan but a fan all the same and his expertise lies in finance not football. Mr Mansford has years of experience in football in various guises home and abroad and his expertise lies in football.

Where and how did he acquire this football expertise?

Well he’s got his ex-client to his 2nd or 3rd interview, which nobody would have wanted or called 2 weeks ago so I don’t know if it’s wool being pulled or just excellent negotiation.

I’ll say this though, if MA gets it, this is a brave appointment by the Club and ultimately Ben Mansford, because if and that’s an if it goes pear shaped, they’ll be a lot more pressure and ill-feeling than if it did with Rosenior, Duff etc. as there’s a high percentage that do not want him at all.

So it’s a big move, that hopefully also puts an end to this ‘Blackpool way’ and making an appointment to “connect with the fans that plays expansive football” and other bollocks BM spouts.

Quite honestly I am sure that SS and the Board will make what they feel is the best choice as our next manager.
Like us they are, after all, fans of the club as well as Board Members and want who they think will best suit our aims.
Personally I am not a fan of Appleton. However, if he is the chosen one, then he will get my support.
I want what's best for the Club, and the Fans.

I'm sure a quick google search will give you all the answers you desire.
OK done that and looked at his Linked-in.

"I have been fortunate to make my passion, sport, my job. While training and qualifying as a Solicitor at Walker Morris I specialised in sports related legal matters as well as developing and representing a stable of professional athletes. Which in turn resulted in my leaving Walker Morris to join leading Sports and Media firm, Wasserman Media Group to focus purely on talent representation and advising professional sports clubs. After nearly 6 years at Wasserman, I was delighted to be a proverbial poacher turned gamekeeper and swap sides to join Barnsley Football Club as Chief Executive. After 3 brilliant years at Oakwell and after winning the Johnstones Paint Trophy and promotion back to the Championship, I joined Leeds United in June 2016 which was the start of the Club's most successful season since relegation from the Premier League. Further to the take over by Andrea Radrizzani's Aser Grouo from Massimo Cellino, I left Leeds in the summer of 2017 to take up the same position at Maccabi Tel Aviv."

So he trained as a solicitor and worked in the media. Then joined Barnsley as CEO! Where apparently he won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and promotion to the Championship! That'll be it. 😆

Ben Mansford is a well paid employee of BFC but prior to his appointment, I'd guess, he had no connection with or love for our football club.
On the other hand our owner/custodian, Simon Sadler, is a sandgrown 'un and a lifetime fan.
It could be a battle between head of Ben and the heart of Simon for this appointment.

I mean. That IS experience and expertise… I’m not sure how you can suggest otherwise.

Reading that he sounds pretty qualified to me

Won't effect my support of the club, I had a season ticket during the Colin Hendry era ffs, but to me it's not much better than appointing Darren Ferguson, I mean, he got Peterborough promoted multiple times to the championship. Appleton did well with Lincoln, but they had some great loans that season.

I mean. That IS experience and expertise… I’m not sure how you can suggest otherwise.
Yeah I'm being a bit flippant but I just wonder what his football expertise actually is? How did he jump from law and media to Barnsley FC CEO? I've seen this kind of quantum leap happen in education. Doesn't necessarily go well. Zero expertise in the new sphere. Some transferable skills obviously.

If Appleton is appointed and a certain section of our fanbase are quietly hostile and waiting for something to go wrong so they can turn on him, we will deserve everything that happens to us.

People are acting as though we played open, expansive football under Critchley which was never the case, especially in the championship.

Sadler must be shaking his head at the childish and emotional reactions on here over the past couple of days.

I'm happy to let the process take time on the basis that Sadler gets it right. Been watching transfers in the Championship, would've liked Aden Flint here but we'd never have matched Stoke's wages.
Guess we've just got to be patient.

Agent Mansford, sounds like a communist spy

Idolised at Maccabi Tel Aviv and I suspect having Cellino as your owner gives you 10 yrs experience in 1 year

He was a sports agent with one of the industries leading agencies, that combined with his professional training in sports contracts and legislation would certainly have helped !

You’re missing the point completely.

I’m saying IF it goes wrong, people won’t forget what Mansford has said and the fact he was Appleton’s agent, I don’t see the problem in this at all? Or can we not question anything? I don’t think any fan wants us to fail, I’m saying it’s a brave appointment because IF it does the fanbase who didn’t want him (large chunk) will be pointing the finger at the recruitment process.

My question is, if he didn’t previously know him as his agent, does he get anywhere near the gig, I don’t think so.

Completely agree on Critchley’s style of football btw.

But it’s a weird world where we can’t criticise or question anything? I don’t think that’s childish? Think that’s what as fans we should always have the right to do? Part of the joy of it. Can we not discuss tactics either?

Does he know how to choose a football coach though? I'm not saying he doesn't. Just what qualifies him to do that?

Before Critch was announced, out of the blue, various names like Robinson were mentioned and bet on. I wonder if Appleton is the new Robinson and we'll get a left field appointment again?

He worked as a consultant for clubs in player (and you would imagine) coach / manager recruitment. Barnsley, Leeds and Macabi Tel Aviv all likely needed managers / coaches at some point and the Critchly appointment worked out well.
He’s also not a one man band. There’s a team of analysts, scouts and a head of recruitment to look to also.
I think as far as CEO’s go we’ve got a good one with all the experience and qualifications you could possibly ask for. I’m sure he’ll have plenty of contacts in the game too who will offer advice / support.

Yeah, can't argue with that. 👍

Wouldn't worry about top gun, looks to have been banned, had a picture of a bloodtangerine thread as the profile so likely him. 🙄

If my Grandmother had wheels, she would have been a bike

Trust the process....... is a line being clung onto now..... tbh I do trust it mostly, they will pick the best person for bfc.

That includes whogwts and connects with the fanbase etc they said.

How can that be Appleton if fans aren't connecting with him?

This appointment will tell us a lot.

There seems to be a lot of negativity surrounding the possibility of Appleton being appointed..... Why!!! (By no means am I an Appleton fan, I am on the fence with it all), but:

Reading all of the above, I have to say I'd take Appleton over Rosenior now.
Think there was an uncomfortable love in with Rosenior based on a few journos saying he could be a decent coach!
