This sums Hamilton up for me

Just was looking at Grimmys magnificent save at the end of the game last night..its been posted on a few media outlets...if you look at the build up to this ...the left winger runs down the wing with Hamilton in pursuit....Hamilton is running at a cantor like he is going through the motions with very little intention of stopping the winger from getting in a cross which so nearly cost Blackpool 2 points....professional footballer...your having a laugh.

But he put in a cross from where the goal came from so that's all that matters.😉
All night he was weak in the tackle, poor in control and often half hearted.

He should only ever be in our half to stay on side and last night he was far better than he has been of late but still a long way from being acceptable.

I Notice that woeful effort to get back

why am i doing this and defending him? Must be mad. But there was one moment in the first half where he tracked back really well and was pretty much the last man and came across to get the ball and clear it out. They were in otherwise.
Because the naysayers go over the top in their criticisms. Back in the day Keith Southern and GTF used to get the same treatment on here.

Plus there was the break from the half way line that resulted in their keeper being booked. No one can tell me that wasn't a red card. 100% would have been if Grimshaw makes the same challenge.

My opinion is that he is not lacking in resolve but he just lacks a footballer's brain. He let their left back out near the end too and they came the length of the pitch and could have equalised. So frustrating!

Because you watch the games as a whole and judge players well.

I agree with you on his defecits but I also think it's unfair not to credit what he does and rightly you do so.

Fwiw I really noticed how uncomfortable he is turning with the ball yesterday. Carey, Coulson, Byers and Kaddy in particular are very good at taking it on their instep, spinning and turning play round. He seems often to only be able to pass it back the way it came.

No sooner had I said that out loud "he can only play the way he's facing..." than he spun like a veritable whirling dervish and hammered into the box and created a penalty shout.

I'm much less annoyed with CJ than with a manager who makes him a key man in a system that demands technically able wide men. He's not the answer but I'm also not sure Gabriel is (despite being one of our best players)

He isn't a full back, he does not have the tackle strength. or close control What he has is lightening speed, but needs balls played in front of him to run on at full pelt. he is not being used to his strength, and, TBH, might as well leave for spomeone who wiill play to his strengths. It's like expecting Marv to be a winger.

How he starts ahead of Gabriel is beyond me
There's lots of criticism about Cautious Critch and his negativity but CJ is actually a more attacking option than Gabriel and tbh Gabriel has not got his form back since his latest injury.
I also think Gabriel is your classic "over-lapping" full back, as invented by Sir Jimmy, and despite the similarity of the roles never looks comfortable to me as a wing back.
CJ does of course have lots of limitations but he still does create chances and in fact he created the most chances (4) of any player on the pitch last night. His seasons stats are 4 goals and 7 assists which probably puts him 3rd on the list of goal/assists.
Now I'm not CJ's Dad and he does frustrate the life out of me but (I'm not even certain I believe I'm saying this) but whilst we need to win games I think I'd stick with him. ☺️

What I do find strange on this forum is that once a player has been targeted for abuse then quite a few jump on the bandwagon and follow suit.
I couldn't believe when I got home last night that the first post I read (after a win) was slagging Lavery off and not only that people seem to find it amusing to even have a go at his balding head (a bit childish in all honesty)
Lavery actually ran his socks off all night
Back to CJ, he probably covers more yardage than anyone else and as 20's alludes to , it was his cross that lead to the goal. And that bit of defending in the first half when he ran all the way back and cleared the danger was a good bit of defending. Then again the CJ haters wouldn't have clocked that because they are too busy looking for his mistakes . At one stage in the second half I actually heard a few boos when CJ passed the ball back to Grimmy. Had it been anyone else then they would have had plaudits from some on here for not giving the ball away to protect our lead. I do wonder if these people get to see what goes on in the game when they are so engrossed in just one player.
Marv made a huge blunder when he was nutmegged and that could quite easily have lead to a goal but any mention of that? Not a chance.
Some of you should be ashamed to call yourselves supporters.

Give your head a wobble Mrs CJ 😒

Yes, classic 'running' near the player, but not close enough to actually have to do anything, to get properly involved.
Not unique to CJ though, so many players are half hearted off the ball, going through the motions

It looks to me that certain players look up & see Hamilton & decide they are not going to pass to him , for obvious reasons ?

Absolutely spot on that.

Of the players available (Jack Moore and his Keiran Trippier-esque fizzing delivery aside 😉) he is definitely the most attacking option.

I would love to see a technically able wing back but we don't have one (other than Moore) so CJ and his pace will have to do for now.

It's social media. Childish people also post on here.

I thought Ekpiteta had his worst game of the season last night, with their centre forward causing him all sorts of problems, but he doesn't get the stick that our goal provider gets.

I find him the most frustrating player. I accept that his cross created the goal and he does track back as well as he can. But on one occasion last night he tracked back and got possession and was the last man. He looked up and saw Pennington free in loads of space to his right. He ignored him and passed it left to Marv who was quickly closed down. Queue hoof ball. I wonder if the managers instructions are weighing on everyone's mind. He seems a really nice bloke but he drives me mad.

There is a player in there and at the Covid game I attended (Swindon I think) he looked like a world beater and when he knocked his second goal in me and my mate were on bet635 getting money on him for the division top scorer.

He has steadily got worse each season and this season is killing him in my opinion.

FRUSTRATING.

It's how you play against three at the back put balls over the top constantly and leave one on one situations, your centre back may make a mess up at some point.

Derby at home was a example sat deep and killed us with those balls wouldn't have happened with a back 2 or a absolute brilliant performance from your one in the middle.

Ekpiteta gets plenty of stick on here and has all season. But last night we saw the opposite sides to what he is usually good and bad at. Last night he was good on the ball but as you say their centre forward caused him plenty of problems especially in aerial battles where he is usually very dominant.

Our clean sheet record is largely down to Grimmy and Marv. The way we set up and the style of play certainly helps keep a clean sheet. It’s the other end of the pitch where we struggle. One things for certain, when Grimmy and Marv leave, they will go to bigger clubs than ourselves.

Bigger club than us? Are there any?

Because the naysayers go over the top in their criticisms. Back in the day Keith Southern and GTF used to get the same treatment on here.
But their critics were nowhere near as vociferous, or as vocal, as those engaged in haranguing C... mplete J... ke Hamilton.

Which is quite understandable, given that both Southern and Taylor-Fletcher Were such sound professionals ...

Carey is another who appears to do lots of running, but never gets close enough to make a serious, meaty tackle. For a team to achieve anything, it cannot carry too many of that type of player.

CJ has the pace and the athleticism for the Premier League, but there are plenty of technically more capable players in the NW Counties games I watch. Seriously.

We'd be a hell of a lot more effective with Gabriel and Apter on the right, in my opinion. Critch's faith in CJ has undermined my faith in Critch this season. What is he thinking?

Plus, Beesley and Joseph cost us about £1.5m in fees. There are plenty of better strikers in L1 that cost very little. And Critch proudly told us that Norburn is one of the best L1 midfielders when he signed him. And made him captain. He was wrong on both counts, I think.

He also messed about with Ekpiteta for a good while this season, and dismantled his confidence.

It's been a poorly led campaign, by any standards. In my opinion.

I said exactly the same on fb in that he has the pace to have caught up and prevented the cross. It was pure laziness and to avoid contact. Sums him up doesn't it, a fraud and liability more often than not.

What reasons would those be? If Dembele hadn't passed to him yesterday we wouldn't have scored.
The fact that he is unable to control the ball , I would say that is an important factor in being a professional footballer. I do take your point that he created the goal but even I would be able hit one good pass .
