......decides when an away team must wear an away strip?
Just watching Sunderland and Newcastle and both wearing their own colours. Granted it’s red and white and black and white but both are stripes and “could” cause confusion for the officials. It’s certainly confusing me on my black and white telly 😂
Our tangerine hardly clashes with anyone yet we regularly wear an away strip when it certainly isn’t required.
Is it a commercial gimmick for clubs to fleece loyal supporters even more so.
A good full bloodied local derby by by the way.
 
I noticed the same as the OP. I think because both shirts contain more white than red or black it's not the easiest on the eye differentiating both teams.
 
Still on this subject both Arsenal and Liverpool have changed strips. Why?
The strip Liverpool are in would allow Arsenal to wear their own colours.
