This is the day

This is the day that we lay down our marker and signal to all those teams around us that we're the team to fear.

Today we'll play Gillingham off the park and show everyone the difference in class and endeavour between us and the rest. Not only will we cement our place in the top 6 from here on in but the likes of Sunderland, Lincoln and the rest will know they'll have a huge task on their hands if they're to get ANYTHING from their games with us.

We march on!

You should be giving the team talk. That is exactly the way we should be approaching this game although I`m not sure the softly spoken NC, for all his coaching prowess, has got this kind of Churchillian speech in his locker.Perhaps more the kind of talk Olly would have given back in the day.

If there's just one game we could have a full house at this season I think it's this. You're right, let Critch keep it calm and methodical but it's the fans' role to provide the passion. If only we could be there...

I agree, good coach he may be, good tactician he is now proving to be. But from when I have heard him speak inspirational leader he ain’t. As long as we keep getting the results his style of management will do me, just an observation.

You've been spot on so far!

Please tell me we're going to play the same way in our remaining nine fixtures!

Who was the guy on the old site used to come on and do the great Churchillian motivational pre match speeches - maybe afineandspecialplace or something like that. Looks like he has a successor.

Oi OTR, are you still out working on the IoM? Remember the taxi from Dumpdale station for the comeback 👍 🏝️

That was afineandprivateplace I think. Now there was as proper motivator every match day. I was just feeling it yesterday that all the stars are beginning to align 👍

Hey Mark how are you? Yes I reckon I'm a lifer here without much chance of parole but you never know. That was some journey to get to Bloomers that day but well worth it, such a special day. And that taxi driver charged about a tenner more than he said he would too 😂

No doubt see you on that train again then soon mate 🏝️ 🤣 👍

How did you wind up getting a taxi from Preston? The Southend game?
It was one of those pre-lockdown Northern rail moments Alf. Trains from Liverpool either not working, lacking staff or spectacularly overfilled (remember the days when that kind of thing was even possible? 😗 ). Then the Train to the Gold Coast from Dumpdale was pulled for good measure. We'd got talking en route (OTR had arrived from Liverpool on the fast boat that morning and grabbed a cab) - taking along a young family of holidaymakers who were otherwise about to be marooned in the cultural desert that is Preston 🤦‍♂️🤣
Still made it in time for a pint at Albert and the Lion and the walk in.

Northern Rail were up to their usual low standard with broken down and cancelled trains from Liverpool so we gave up on them once we’d got to Preston and shared a taxi into Blackpool. I think it was the Southend game!

Great anecdote! Must have been a cracking day.

I’ve been exiled for a bit but last time I had to use Northern Rail it was a ticket I bought 6 months in advance, and there was nothing running that day, and so I ended up in Manchester for the night making friends with some lovely chaps who all had their own colourful reasons for being kicked out of the local hostel!

I bet a good few on here have tales of impromptu days/nights such as these. Could be a thread of its own 😀👍
