If we start it now and all pledge oooh about £5000 a month until the end of the season...if the club matched it... Would we have enough to purchase our mercurial , diminutive, ebullient, joyous little diamond of a football player.
I say this only partly tongue in cheek because stranger things often happen in real life than they do in fiction .

Stranger things do happen. Why, only the other day I saw Shergar riding Lord Lucan and a Pink Unicorn shaking it's head at the sight. All 3 said there's more chance of signing Dumbo than Dembo.

The problem here, mull, being that, in your post, you seem, to me, to be entering the realms of what can only sensibly be categorised as pure science fiction ...

I'd be looking at maybe signing him for a nominal fee. Brest got him on free and he was loaned out as they didn't think he was good enough for their team / match day squad - he played in less than half of their games.

If the unlikely event we did go up it'd be interesting to see how he performs against better opposition.

Class is permanent

Brest won’t want to sell him. They loaned him out to develop him for themselves and ultimately add value. They’re pushing for Europe in a top European league so will want millions even if he’s not ready for their squad. Other clubs in the Championship and elsewhere will be prepared to pay millions. Dembele will be able to demand a wage far beyond anything we could conceivably offer and plenty of other clubs can and will match that. Furthermore if I was a 21 year old professional athlete with millions in the bank and a short career I’d be looking for a club and life in a major multicultural city - not Blackpool or even elsewhere in North West England. I imagine a few months in France will have opened the lads eyes !

He’d probably win even more free kicks in the Championship!

Totally agree
Not sure he is heavily chased by other teams as yet, so still believe a deal can be done

All the teams that are promoted from league 1 this season will have made a note of him - if we do manage to go up I reckon we can get him

Last time the fans chipped in for Andy Watson the club sold him a couple of seasons later and kept the money. I remember the break the gate game well, people were buying 3 or 4 tickets even though they weren't going to get used.
