Tharme gone

This seems best for everyone involved. He didn't look great on this week, I thought Bez got the better of him multiple times. Good luck to him and I hope he gets the game time he needs. A day of outs so far, wonder if we will bring anyone in.
 
Sounded at the time like we signed him on a tip off that he's got a long throw and Accrington were in for him. So effectively last year we paid the fee that Accy couldn't and then let him go to them anyway so they got the best of both worlds. But if we've helped him make it into league football, like Ben Garrity, and he's getting to stay in the EFL then that's something.

He sounds like a really good lad from a Southport podcast I listened to.
 
Not seen much of him but it sounds like he's been steady when he's played, hope he does well there as I have a soft spot for Grimsby 👍
 
Good move for him thought he always looked steady when he played but probably not quite at the level. Hope things work out for him there he seems like a good lad.
 
Got a fee for him. For any team that wants to use long throw-ins into the box he will be a monster.

He didn't shine on Wednesday and we have better options, so it's fair on the lad to let him go. Good luck to him.
 
I’ve seen him a few times this season in the EFL Trophy games and in the earlier rounds he looked composed and played some good football. As the quality of the opposition improved he was becoming a little exposed, as Wednesday night proved. A few wasteful moments in possession and a few nervous moments defending.

But he should find his level soon and he is a decent player, so hope it goes well for him.
 
I remember him arriving from Southport to much acclaim. Never given a chance. Another one not developed.

Good luck to the lad. At 24 he is desperately in need of games in order to forge a solid career.
 
With being limited to efl trophy games and no league appearances this season it was not working out here. A move elsewhere was for the best. Good luck to him.
 
Don't like to knock players on our books but he looked a bit slow sometimes on the highlight reels last season for Accrington so was always going to find it hard higher up the pyramid.
 
The right move, he needs to play and in honesty we need better. Hopefully it works well for all parties as he comes across a thoroughly decent lad.
 
Good move again. No need to be critical here, He’s a decent player but unlikely to force his way in to this team

With Garrity, Carey, Tharme we are clearly making space in the squad to take a punt on a non league player as part of our strategy. Carey has worked to a point, other 2 have found FL clubs and done well in their own right.

Won’t have cost us a lot to try and worth doing as you never know when the next Vardy will come along.
 
Think it's best all round this one. Always looked a bit wooden to me when he played. Not to say that he wouldnt cut it somewhere but not here if we are wanting a passing style of play with ambitions of going up.

Garrity actually now looks like he’d get in our squad tbh.

I would imagine it may just under £1000 a week; may be £750 to £850. Friend of mine pro in Scottish Championship and gets quite a bit less than that
 
Tharme came across as a thoughtful, intelligent lad and wish him well. I would say we need another dominant CB who is left-footed and can play out from the back. Terrell Thomas from Charlton was mentioned but maybe Appleton wants to keep him?

I don't think its as simple as that. Little point in continuing developing for the sake of it if they don't feel it'll work out as well as it might with someone else.

The club only has finite resources and we can only have so many players.

Some gamble signing don't and some do.

We'll go again and this time we've got, hopefully, a better recruitment team than ever before and look to replace any with better players to develop.

He was brilliant against Fleetwood as an example, he's had some quality moments for us. Some poor too but who hasnt, he's shown progression and is one of the better gambles.
