Gone!
So that's 3 new Home Secretaries. And Grant Shapps is her replacement! you couldn’t make it up
Yep.According to Braverman...
“Earlier today, I sent an official document from my personal email to a trusted parliamentary colleague as part of policy engagement, and with the aim of garnering support for government policy on migration.
"This constitutes a technical infringement of the rules. As you know, the document was a draft Written Ministerial Statement about migration, due for publication imminently. Much of it had already been briefed to MPs. Nevertheless it is right for me to go.”
It sounds like she either engineered her own departure or was given a convenient excuse to make for her sacking. Either way, I think Hunt insisted on her removal.
Yep.
She’s just posted her resignation letter on Twitter. It talks about accepting responsibility for mistakes (and resigning) and is a clear criticism of Truss - who has admitted making mistakes but who hasn’t resigned.
Do Aliens pee?Another Jeremy Hunt decision. I’ll bet Liz has to ask permission to go to the loo.
Wow so Neville Chamberlain got away with waving that piece of paper in front of loads of people in 1938 and telling them all about what was on it!BBC reporting : The first related to the use of a personal email account and the second to the sending of a government document to someone not authorised to receive it.
The comment is that it contained Market Sensitive information. Is this the smoking gun re the Hedge Funds making a killing?
He's in the HoC at the moment, explaining why we will keep discussing fracking until the Government gets an answer it likes. We're going through a situation where people are talking about not being able to afford to cook or drive or heat their homes and they're ** about.
They don't give a fuck. Rees-Mogg will probably be about sooner or later saying "now, now, now, let's not get carried away with it all. Everyone is working jolly hard"
Yes. But the answer it likes may be different next week to the one it likes this week. He's in the HoC at the moment, explaining why we will keep discussing fracking until the Government gets an answer it likes.
Interesting that they're making this a notional confidence vote - big test for Blackpool Mps as to whether they will do more than just talk about local feeling on fracking. He's in the HoC at the moment, explaining why we will keep discussing fracking until the Government gets an answer it likes.
Menzies spoke earlier. Supports the motion, but says he will probably vote against because he doesn't like the way Labour have "hijacked the Order Paper". Which is the official line, I think.Interesting that they're making this a notional confidence vote - big test for Blackpool Mps as to whether they will do more than just talk about local feeling on fracking.
Yes, very interesting that it’s a three-line whip, allowing no room for local feelings. Hunt/Truss/Mogg must be concerned there could be a large number of rebels on this issue. It looks like the Govt is going to stitch up our local Tory MPs one way or another.Interesting that they're making this a notional confidence vote - big test for Blackpool Mps as to whether they will do more than just talk about local feeling on fracking.
Chortling while he troughs his tea I expect.Where’s Boris when you need him.
Were saying on radio a couple of Tories have publically said will vote against and more expected to follow...Menzies spoke earlier. Rock and a hard place springs to mind. Were saying on radio a couple of Tories have publically said will vote against and more expected to follow...
It seems a bit weak to me to put some Westminster party v party points ahead of one of the emotive issues of your constituents...
They can't remove the whip from 40 or 50 of them can they? Isn't it also up to local associations who they select?Rock and a hard place springs to mind.
Vote for fracking and you alienate a lot of your voters.
Vote against fracking and you won’t be standing as a Tory MP anyway.
Only two options I suppose.
Vote for fracking and bang on about “local consent” in the hope some voters fall for it.
Vote against fracking and hope the threats are all
piss and water or alternatively that everything changes in the near future and you’re forgiven by the new regime.
No charge for this advice Lost.
Well they can in theory although it’d be pretty stupid. They can't remove the whip from 40 or 50 of them can they? Isn't it also up to local associations who they select?
You'll have to explain that, I need my Tofu top up.Wow so Neville Chamberlain got away with waving that piece of paper in front of loads of people in 1938 and telling them all about what was on it!
Surprisingly filling isn’t Mossy. You'll have to explain that, I need my Tofu top up.
They would lose whatever hope of governing by consensus they still have if they did. Which is why MPs like Skidmore and Crouch have said they will vote with Labour.Well they can in theory although it’d be pretty stupid.
I’m not sure whether the local association gets to choose the list of candidates or is just presented with it by Tory HQ.
The PM can withdraw the Conservative whip from any MP s(he) likes. It’s a temporary expulsion from the Party pending a hearing and/or appeal or subsequent reversal. The Local Association does not have a say. The Central Con Cmmtte can impose anyone they want as a replacement. They can't remove the whip from 40 or 50 of them can they? And this is the One Nation Tories seizing it back. The PM can withdraw the Conservative whip from any MP s(he) likes. It’s a temporary expulsion from the Party pending a hearing and/or appeal or subsequent reversal. The Local Association does not have a say.
Bozo suspended a dozen or more Europhile MPs in the autumn of 2019 to prevent them standing for re-election in December as Conservatives, inc Ken Clarke. Most of the older ones simply retired. That was when the far-right/ERG seized control of the Party from the One-Nation Tories.
Menzies, Benton and Maynard all fell into line to vote for the retention of fracking. Weak weak, weak. They would lose whatever hope of governing by consensus they still have if they did. Which is why MPs like Skidmore and Crouch have said they will vote with Labour.
Scott Benton speaking now, following the same line as Menzies.
Ok, ta. I know the labour process makes it more difficult but I also guess that were MPs to vote on principle and perhaps disassociate themselves from the Tory brand, they might stand more of a chance than if they stand on a platform that looks to be collapsing and demonstrably go against the will of their constituents...The PM can withdraw the Conservative whip from any MP s(he) likes. To be honest I’m not sure we’re even an embarrassment any longer.According to the Socialist Workers Party News. Truss was barracked as she went through the Lobby and forgot to vote herself! Apparently the deputy Whip Craig Whittaker said ‘I’m ** furious and don’t give a fuck anymore!‘ Also ministers accused of physically pushing MPs into the voting lobbies! This is so funny seeing as its The Times, that has actually reported this. How much longer can these assorted Clowns run our Country, we’re an embarrassment!
