Told you......

Over 100 MPs urging the leader of the opposition to call for a ceasefire

Not like Labour to it implode from within

New Labour or Old Labour or New but not really New

Interesting times ahead

Meanwhile in Wales still struggling with this 20 mph speed limit

6 hours to drive from the North to the South today, normally takes around 3 hours, should bill the Welsh Senedd for a missed job and my hotel cost

You must be one of the few sticking to the 20 mph limit then lol
here in Bridgend most people only stick to the 20 mph by schools and hospitals

Starmer is stuck between a rock and a hard place, yes he could call for a ceasefire and condemn the violence on both sides. Unfortunately this is the position of a man who stated this at the onset of hostilities and given his name is Jeremy Corbyn he can hardly be seen to agree with him. Leave politics aside Corbyn is almost always right.

Strangely I agree with you on this.

The Israelis have an absolute right to defend themselves, but I think this hell bent rush to effectively side with the them will bite an awful lot of western politicians on the bum, as more and more Palestinians are slaughtered.

I hate Putin, and he's just making mischief with his UN resolution, but I can't see any alternative to a ceasefire.

The only reason the Israelis haven't gone in to Gaza seems to be that the Americans are bringing over lots of defensive missiles, as once the Israelis do move, they're anticipating their bases coming under attack from Iran

Don't know what the answer is, but Starmer has got himself into a big mess on this.

Labour are well ahead in the polls but people are starting to question Sir Keirs decision making as he’s really put his foot in it with the Israel/Palestinian situation🤷🏽‍♂️

It's a difficult position for Starmer.
There are 250,000 Jewish people in the UK and 4,000,000 Muslims.
A lot of constituencies with a large Muslim communities have Labour MPs. Some of these MPs are asking Starmer to soften his stance and call for a ceasefire in Gaza instead of wholeheartedly supporting Israeli military action. It's a really difficult problem for him and it will be interesting to see how he negotiates this one.
I'm not sure that he has got himself into a mess yet, but it certainly will be a test of his political skill.

Ditto every party leader.

Maybe he should just keep it simple and do the right thing. Condemn Hamas for their atrocities, state that Israel have a right to defend themselves within international law, ask for maximum consideration to be given to innocent civilians on all sides, and work towards an imminent ceasefire.
Supporting Hamas or blindly following the path set by Israel and the USA isn't the right thing for the UK to do, I think most people from all backgrounds that live here would agree.

Not like you to grumble Phil

The fcukers just got me doing 36 in a 30 zone down the A6 near Myserscough, fixed camera. It’s been 40 mph on that particular stretch of the A6 for years, so it’s my own fault for not spotting the change of speed restrictions there.

If I visit Wales, I’ll be doing the 20 mph and I don’t care who it piśśes off.
All the local businesses in Wales should sue for loss of earnings, esp, those where deliveries are key.

The USA took a whole load of countries to two wars on the back of an terrorist attack which murdered 3000 of UScitizens out of a population of 300m - there is no chance anyone in the Western governments is going to bat an eyelid if Israel carpet bombs Gaza, and therefore Hamas, out of existence after the murder of 1300 out of a population of 9 million.

They know one day, they may need to do the same thing.

On the O/P

Labour will get more pressure from within than the Tories at the moment across the like Palestine and women's issues and taxing businesses etc etc.

They should still win the next election, but dealing with this stuff will create problems.

If we had Proportional Representation, you'd have 3 or 4 parties who are currently Labour and 2 or 3 who are currently Conservatives.

We don't, which is why it's a difficult balancing act to get each party to function

Beyond the numbers was the sheer savagery of 7/10, 9/11 was bad, but most would've died quickly, so a small comfort, with 7/10 we saw rape, torture, the deliberate murder of children and even babies, and much else beyond, on that basis alone I'd say 7/10 was worse.

If people think I'm angry, I am, and that is why.

We will see .The Daily Mail is pushing it as a story as it likes to do , with perhaps slight exaggeration. Meanwhile a GB news poll gave Labour a 28 per cent lead on the Tories.

He isn't under any real pressure from within his party, it is simply the right-wing press doing what it always does before an election,

starting slagging off the labour leader and putting doubt into the voting public. Remember Michael Foot and the raincoat, Kinnock the Welsh

windbag, Corbain the commy. Unfortunately, after the shit show of the last few years of a conservative government, it is going to work at the next

election.

IBS?

Burnham as well now.

Interesting article on what "ceasefire" really means: Sadiq Khan shames London with his call for an Israeli ceasefire

Sadly, calls for ceasefires are often thinly-veiled demands for Hamas not to be pursued. They are feints by which Israel’s critics seek to camouflage their denial of that nation’s right to security with candy-coated soundbites which, far from being the usual meaningless word salad of insubstantiality so favoured by politicians in a tight spot, actually say something important. And wrong. What, after all, is a demand for a ceasefire other than the notion that Israel cannot hound down the terrorists who oversaw such carnage on its southern border?

That's fair.

Indeed but at least he’s not a liar, rapist, insider dealer on behalf of his spouse, economy thrasher, shop lifter, law breaker of laws he sanctioned and designed - compared to some he’s an Angel but it’s early days

It doesn't make any difference, Starmer isn't the answer, he betrayed the Labour party when he told his MPs not to support strikers, he's a fraud.

Stop wasting oxygen on which slightly different version of the same system is better.

Hicks summed it up 30+ years ago,
