Truss has made a positive u-turn. Reinstated the HS3 from Liverpool to Hull via Manchester, Bradford and Leeds, after Boris cancelled it in favour of an upgrade of the line through Huddersfield.

Brings Bradford into the transport loop.

Let's see it happen before getting too giddy though.

.... gutted.... thought she’d called a GE....🙁

I fail to see the benefits of a no doubt expensive nice to talk about project & for me it's about as necessary as that tram line of about 700 yards on Talbot rd. The money would have been better spent on just improving what we've got.

Today at the conference they are going "tough on immigration mode" presented by Suella "brains" Braverman followed by "We are the biggest allies of Ukraine" by James "brains" Cleverley. All designed for their target audience who must be either dim or suffering catastrophic memory loss as its 18,652 times that they've mentioned stuff like that before.
On a serious note HS2 is needed, nor for the timesaving (that's a minor by product) but to create additional line capacity. As the political landscape has become more volatile, longterm strategic decision making has left the building, theyll say stuff but not enact it.

Can't see it happening and even if it does, it's a shame the North stops at the 53rd parallel.

That's the problem with our country in a nutshell; huge long term investments messed about with for short term politics.

We need commissions for stuff like this which can't be ruled over by politicians.
