If you could re-sign one of your club's former players in their prime, who you going for?

Thinking face

In my watching BFC lifetime I would say Trevor sinclair.

Not sure what other players of ours in the last 30 years or so played at the top for so long? And was also their country's best player at the world Cup. And scored the greatest overhead kick of all time!

I'm gonna think out of the box here.
Genuinely the most valuable assets have always been goalscorers so at his prime Kevin Phillips gets my vote.

Wes or Kevin Phillips
Was criminal we let Wes go for that transfer fee and Phillips is probably the best finisher I’ve seen at the club

John Craven. He was an excellent full back, midfielder and striker. A utility player of that ability and strength wins it over my favourite player (Tony Green) because that is what is needed at our level.

Just checked the o/p to see if it had to be a player we have watched.
I never saw Jimmy Armfield, Stan Mortensen, or Stanley Matthews, but it would be Sir Jim for me
Think I read somewhere that he was voted the best RB in the world after the 1962 world cup?

Some good shouts on here.
I was thinking of Armfield or Morty suppose realistically you would have to say Stanley Matthews as he was likely the best player in the Country & possibly the World at his peak?
He also played until a ripe old age so you would get years of service 👍.

I think some are missing the point of the question.
It's a player who you would have loved them in there prime to play for us as they already have.
Jimmy Armfield doesn't count and neither does Charlie Adam who had his best years with us.

Some great shouts, Trevor Sinclair definitely. A few more, the last 3 had precious few games for us as youngsters.

Alan Wright
Craig Cathcart
David Bardsley
Seamus Coleman

Still a prospect Bright Osayi-Samuel

Possibly? Ballon D'Or winner as a Blackpool player. That's something Man City can't buy.

Sir Stanley Mathews

I never saw him play so I'd love to see how good he was for myself.

Or more recently.

In this league with this squad and our finances, Richie Wellens.
