Seasiders Podcast - Tonight 8pm

Tim is busy thinking about Kenny Dougall whilst idly rearranging his monogrammed things and supervising the staff charged with polishing his cufflinks so it's my job to tell you that the Seasiders Podcast is on tonight at 8pm.

Enjoyed that👍

And the Grim Reaper was even cracking a few jokes tonight… Things are definitely on the up👍

Good show thanks chaps. Some thoughts.

Marv has indeed made a big difference. Was being written off two weeks ago. Confidence restored, Marv restored.

Kenny probably man of the match for me. Just edging out those others. Just played so well that everything else followed from his midfield control. And he has enabled Sonny to look so much more integral. Sonny, Marv, CJ all close contenders for motm. Grimmy too probably.

The move to 3412 is making a big difference, helped a lot by the effectiveness of Dembele and the continual improvement of CJ and Dale.

Grimmy looked his normal self again. Dip over.

Rhodes carrying a bit of a knock, it shows. If Lavery or maybe Kouassi was fit I suspect Rhodes would have been rested.

Morgan keeps getting better. Great ball to Connolly and a great finish for his goal. Good midfield options!

We are looking well set now but every game is different, psychologically, physically and tactically. Pompey were missing a number of players. We just take each game as it comes. Don't get too up, don't get too down. Calm the mood swings.

Bolton have 6 straight wins. Being pipped 1-0 away to them was no big deal. We played pretty well there and lost Lavery in training. I think that caused the one up front decision tbh. Bolton have gained points on us in those 6 games. We can get on a run hopefully and claw it back, their form rises and falls.

Kouassi, Gabriel, Norburn and Lavery.

So are we!

Agree with pretty much all of that, although I’m not sure about this idea of us playing 3412. Someone else suggested we were playing a 343 at times … I’m not convinced about that either.

I think we’re just playing 352 and Dembele is being given license to go and ‘do his thing’. Much of his efforts tend to be focused on the right hand side (which was pointed out by the same poster who suggested we were playing 343).

It is true that we are starting to develop a fluidity throughout the team, especially when pushing forwards …

I said on another thread, but I think what we may be seeing now is the ‘indiscipline’ that the discipline facilitates.

A bit like driving a car if you will, that the players are no longer having to focus too hard on regrouping into a solid shape or knowing when to pressure the opposition, because it has started to become second nature.

I appreciate that but those four wouldnt improve the team we had out on Saturday. I think we hit Pompey at quite a good time. But I'm taking nothing away from our performance which was excellent. We have been gaining momentum and theirs seems to have been waning. Which happens. Bolton started well, dropped off a bit and then hit this run of 6 straight wins.

It's just a numbering system at the end of the day and the formation fluctuates but there's been a change, with Dembele playing ahead of the two midfielders, I'd say. Compared to earlier in the season. It's working much better. But a lot of the improvement is down to individuals getting better and the understanding growing, as you say.
