Rotherham v Cardiff

Not sure - only a win can give either club safety, a draw means Reading can catch them.

Our best bet is for Cardiff to win as many of their remaining as possible.
If Rotherham could lose all theirs, that would be nice.
We need Huddersfield to lose their next two, v Cardiff and Sheffield Utd, and then draw with reading final game. Then it wouldn't matter if Reading beat Wigan or not in their other game.
That's still needing us to win both.

Agree TT, I think that's the gist. Unfortunately, as Cardiff play two of our rivals, we need to forget about catching them and hope they win both. There really aren't that many combinations of results that allow us to stay up, and we're probably going to need a draw as well (Reading v Huddersfield). Unlikely, but all we can do is win both of ours and what will be will be.

It's still possible to stay up with us getting 4 points. It needs a GD swing though, which is possible, but we'd be lucky to get those results.

I think that GD could end up costing us, a couple of early goals against Millwall and the all out for a 10 nil 😂

It's actually not that unlikely, v similar set of results.
If Reading and Wigan draw next Saturday and Huddersfield lose their next two, they would go into the final day a as follows:

Huddersfield 45 -21 (or worse)
Reading 44 -20
Wigan 41 -27

So we would need to finish on better than Huddersfield. Assuming Huddersfield lose both games by a single goal, that's four points and a three goal swing. But if they lost one game by 2, we'd only need a draw and a two goal win.

of course, reading could lose to Wigan, so that would mean Wigan could then get 46 by beating Rotherham. So we would need to win both anyway.

If we did our bit, I can see GS coming into it. 😬

Assuming 2 X one nil wins, that leaves us on 47 with a GD of -22 and a GS of 47.

If Reading got 4 from 6 they'd almost definitely be above on GD - currently -20.

Huddersfield 3 from 9 would be close. GD of -19 may end up matching our assumed -22 but in that case our GS would more than likely be better.

Rotherham & Cardiff have better GD so either just need 1 point from 9.

QPR have the worst GD so we'd be above if the lost both.

We need a repeat of 1978 in reverse.
Every result went against us with the games left.
It will be interesting Saturday afternoon if we win on Friday night.

1) Qpr lose next match at stoke
2) Cardiff beat Rotherham and Rotherham loose at middlesbrough
3) Huddersfield don't win either game against Cardiff or sheffield united

If we beat Millwall, and anyone of those 3 scenarios above happen, we will go into the final day with a chance.

Every per needs us to win both. With Millwall clinging onto a play off place it's going to be difficult.

Yeah, I was saying it's unlikely as we can't even rely on Burnley bearing QPR. Maybe our luck will change.

To have any realistic chance, I think we need to win convincingly against Millwall which is a very big ask given they are vying for playoff security. Hopefully they get the jitters if we get an early goal
