Well, I don't know what to say. I understand that he's got a big ego but this is ridiculous😫 this is bobbins...........and he's redone the rest of the album as well😲

 
I find cover versions are very hit and miss from artists who didn't write the original material. I've loved cover versions more than the originals and I've hated more for just being absolutely gash.

Artists reworking their own songs? Can anyone name a good one?

This comes across as some YouTube amateur thinking their gonna make the big time just by talking the lyrics and trying to sound moody on a famous song.
 
Sorry to go against the grain here, but I’ll jump to his defence.
He’s re-versioned it in the style of his ‘story telling’ stage shows.
During a track such as this, the focus will be on a visual element of the show, with this being a background track.
He won’t have recorded this version expecting it to fly up the singles charts!
(I know this is part of the reworking of Dark Side, not a current show, but that’s the style it’s been done in, and if, fingers crossed, his ‘farewell’ tour isn’t the last tour he does, I can imagine that this reworking turns into a gig).
If you like Floyd/Waters and haven’t had the chance to see him live, I recommend giving one of the shows on Netflix etc a go.
His shows are absolutely amazing, the visual elements are brilliant, sometimes breathtaking, always emotional.

And that's not me saying that my best friend who has seen his last two tours and agrees his new stuff is utter shite.

That’s an opinion. His fan base ARE mostly politically motivated, and at the beginning of his last tour’s gigs he says if that if you’re not, you should probably “Fuck off to the bar now”. Your best friend obviously doesn’t listen!

He has come out and supported Putin, so he can naff off.

Always had an overblown opinion of himself, Pink Floyd were a band, the sum of the parts. And when he had a hussy fit and decided to leave and shut them down, the remaining band proved that he was not necessary to their continuance.

Every person is involved in politics there is a line in the sand when paying to see an expensive concert. 👍

If you’re a Water’s fan (not a Floyd fan), then you know what you’re going to see, and that’s a politically fuelled show.
With respect, your sentiment is akin to going to watch the Specials then moaning they only played Ska.

Not a Pink Floyd fan but i did listen recently to Water's Desert Island Discs episode on You Tube which was recorded about 30 years ago. He sounded deeply affected by his dad's death in WW2 in Anzio. He comes across as a loner type, intelligent, it was a good listen tbf.

Now, as an absolute diehard Beatles fan I have to say that Dark Side of the Moon ranks right up there with their best albums. And fair do's, when this new version of Money started off I was quite impressed. Very different in its approach but none the worse for that. Unfortunately, it's when Waters starts to go off piste that my mind begins to wander. So, interesting start but tedious development.
 
It’s his music - if he wants to rewrite or rework it he can knock himself out. Doesn’t mean anyone else has to like it or anything else that he says these days.

Reach for the off button and move on with your day…..

Better still - go and listen to the original album 🤩

Since the beginning of the worldwide tour (over a year ago), the political content has been headline news.
Banned from Poland, taken to court in Germany, attempts made in several countries to ban the shows, condemnation from Jewish organisations in many countries.
All widely reported.
It’s not a case of me knowing best, it’s just a case of knowing.
