RIP Bernard Cribbins

So many memorable roles from the Wombles to Dr Who and practically everything in between.

"National treasure" is one of those vastly overused phrases - but entirely appropriate in Bernard's case.
The Railway Children, "Right Said Fred", voice of the Wombles, a pernickety hotel guest in Fawlty Towers, Carry On films, Jackanory, etc etc.
A naturally warm and funny man - RIP.

Very well said. RIP BC.

Always came across as a very warm, caring human being . A talented yet very humble man was my impression . On T.V and radio from my very early days 'til the present . Very nearly the last great of the 60's t.v era R.I.P

RIP Bernard Cribbins. Always worth watching, whatever he was on.

Edit: National service with 2/3 para in Palestine.
2 Top 10 singles: Digging a Hole (No. 9), Right Said Fred (No. 10) both produced by George Martin.
Presented Jackanory more time than anyone else.

I think death should be thought of differently, unless it's someone young. The bloke lived till he was 94 that should be celebrated, is it sad news? He had a successful life. Its sad when a 10 year old dies of cancer but we are all going to snuff it, we have this weird denial about death. Anyway RIP Bernard you had a cracking innings 👏

I remember him being hands down the funniest person on a Never Mind the Buzzcocks episode and Jupitus and Hughes were setting the bar very high back then. And there was a big generation gap aswell.

also saw him on Would I lie To You and he was brilliant.

An Oldham lad. His old pal from Oldham, Eric Sykes, encouraged him and the rest is history.

No one quite like him for versatility. Fine actor and performer, naturally funny with impeccable timing who easily connected with people of all ages. A rare gift. RIP.
