Resignation

CMO in Scotland breached lockdown by going 40 miles and resigned saying her actions were incompatible with rules

Chief scientist in England breached lockdown by crossing London and resigned saying actions were incompatible with rules.

Senior advisor to the Prime Minister, with symptoms of the disease drives 260 miles with family and it's 'essential travel'.

Can anyone explain this one to me, especially as it was at the height of 'stay at home and self isolate ' ?

Unless the Government and Cummings are happy to exercise double standards and show they have no integrity - he has to go & today.
His defenders have put forward limp excuses on his behalf, which do not wash. If he and his wife were both ill (although he was seen running around his parents garden with his children!) they should have made arrangements to deal with his domestic arrangements; it's not as if they have no money to do so.

He has lots of info that the press and labour would gladly share.

Keep your friends close but your enemies closer

All of the above mentioned forced to resign or in the case of Cummings calls for his resignation. Normal people caught doing the exact same thing, or far less - prosecuted and fined. i have no understanding wahy some people (not necesarily on here) think a resignation for those in power is sufficient.

I'd be happy with both. They'd send a message that this is serious. Failure to do so indicates it's fine and dandy to do what you want.

I've not been over to see family in Blackpool for 9 weeks because I've been following the guidance drafted by Dominic Cummings.

That's despite none of us showing any symptoms. Meanwhile...

Just seen about 20 journos and photographers massed outside his house pestering him..

I suppose they should all now be sacked for breaking the 'rules'...

He'll go eventually, kicking and screaming. The pressure will increase to a point where he has no choice. And so he should.
Wiz, they may be at work but they're still supposed to be social distancing 😉
I hope you’re right but do wonder what he holds over BJ that will prevent that happening. It’s been noted by the public all the same no doubt , especially the duplicity and deceit that’s ensued.
Own it and quit you arrogant baffoon.

I hope that nobody comes on here to defend him because it is seen as their duty as a Tory supporter. I would just say to the Tories on the Board with strongly held views, promote your political views however passionately but not this. This is contemptuous and a flagrant breach of both the rules and the spirit of the rules.

Read a biography about Boris, and with all his faults, he’s fiercely loyal to his staff, he’s fought to the end before, but eventually Cummings will have no option. It simply cannot be defended.

The British are famously compliant and obedient. Non - compliance and disobedience are 2 things that are guaranteed to get this kind of reaction.

I think it has to do with the fact people don’t like having the piss taken out of them.

We all suspect it happens a lot of the time, hence the “all politicians are the same” cynicism we hear so often.

But there is a line that can be crossed, when it’s just too obvious that you’re being flipped two fingers, and then we won’t continue to ignore it or pretend we didn’t notice.

Bit like the Oystons really.

They're at work.

So because they are at work they can get within touching distance of eachother and the bloke they are harrassing.. Im sure that is a breach of the rules and should be called out on it...

If i get within 2m of anyone at work i have to be dressed head to foot in PPE with mask.. Not one of them had a mask on.

We already know from when he was mayor of London, Foreign Secretary and from what he has achieved since being Prime Minister that Boris Johnson is incompetent. Now we get to see how weak and spineless he is too. Remember how he was too big a coward to be interviewed by Andrew Neil and when he his in a fridge to avoid reporters.
Telling lies repeatedly is not going to cut it this time.

So it's not going to cut it this time. What do you think is going to happen this time to his 80 seat majority? You've accused me of no argument about the point. So now I'm prepared to debate with you for as long as you want. I'm waiting.

I think the danger from Boris right now is from his own party.
Both he and Cummings probably had quite a lot of enemies in there already before this blew up.
I think the Tory grandees to some extent probably tolerated Boris because they thought he could win them a good majority, especially against Corbyn.
I don’t think it would take too much more from this point before they start thinking that he will have to go before the next election.

I personally think he's not going to resign...I also don't think Johnson will remove him although stranger things have happened. There may be an inquiry which will take a while to publish findings and they will be hoping the story will die out.

Ive been thinking along these lines myself. It wouldn't surprise me if this whole charade was being orchestrated by factions within the conservative party.

Sure that is plan - knock it into the long grass - not right to comment about ongoing inquiry
Heat will leave the subject and other news will bury it
Basic PR to be honest

Just like Russian interference in Brexit that was ready for publication in December.

Too late. It's Remoaners vendetta.

Just like that - people want a quiet life and not to have to think too much
The spin doctors know this - btw all governments, organisations, public figures use this

In all seriousness, a simple analysis of his phone would put to bed the allegations about movement around Durham. You're not telling me that a Spad to the PM would go anywhere without it. The fact he hasn't volunteered it says volumes.
