……my dad, like yours possibly, used to write quite a few as a caring, long suffering, passionate Blackpool fan. I remember many a Saturday evening and Sunday morning him penning a 3 or 4 page self proclaimed masterpiece that would go in the post first thing Monday to the sports editor after another terrible performance or for something else that had annoyed him in the running of our proud club.
The usual response for his 9 times out of 10 letter of the week was other fans quoting him in the next few nights papers which he was quite proud of but every now and again he would get a call from the club to see if he could pop in and have a chat about his grievances with the manager or chairman at the time.
I used to find it quite funny at the time that they wanted to listen to Mr Angry from the West Paddock or Mr Bored from St Annes as me and my footy mates used to call him but we were always sat waiting when he came back or next time we were all in the pub together before a game to hear what had been discussed and if anything was going to be done to address his (and usually our) concerns.
Well Simon the reason for this post is that in my opinion you need to sit and listen to a few normal, passionate, long suffering fans to hear our simple opinions on where things are going wrong with our proud club because in my opinion you are being flannelled by your own appointed yes men and officials who work in the football world to the point of being protected from reality and for you to only hear what you want to hear.
The ones I’m thinking of don’t represent fans groups, don’t abuse the club online, aren’t interested in Bury, Rochdale, Coventry etc but are just normal, passionate Blackpool fans worried about the direction our club seems to be going in and probably have simple ideas and beliefs into how things could be put right.
