I’m sure their fans will be celebrating with us if we win and prevent Oxford from making the playoffs now that they are safeReading need to let us win; Dave Windridge hit the crossbar 3 minutes from the end of their 1-0 win in 1985 that started their consecutive win run, AND how could they want Oxford to go up?
Barnsley fans, on the other hand, were extremely negative and Critchleyesque about Collins to such an extent, according to one of their podcasts, that a Reds fan got into the reporters box at ht, not stopped by stewards, to verbally abuse their Sheffield Radio commentator. Surprised the chizmeister didn’t comment how sinister it was that someone not of this parish was in the right place at the wrong time! Our support was magnificent as it will be at Reading and into the playoffs.Just read a report of Saturdays game in the Sun newspaper quoting the Critchmeister.
“We’re formidable at home and the supporters play a huge part. I’ve been to a lot of League One games and sometimes you can hear a pin drop. It’s dead then I realise how fortunate we are to have a unique atmosphere like we have at Bloomfield rd. The supporters make it a brilliant place for us to play”
Great that.
Neill Collins also mentioned the fans.
“It was Blackpool’s last game of the season and the crowd were up and we just got a bit over-whelmed by it”
Right to the endCan't help thinking that it's the hope that kills you...
Looking forward to it. I have grandchildren in Woodley (all BFC fans of course) and have always enjoyed a day out at what was the Majedski. We'll give you a wave.Hi everyone. Reading fan here. Just to confirm there will definitely not be any protests on Saturday. It will be a positive day for us to applaud the manager and team. When we lost to Shrewsbury in November we were bottom and ten points adrift from safety. We were deducted a further two points later on so effectively we were 12 points adrift.
We are hopefully coming to an end of the ownership saga with new owners possibly in place by next month. So after three dismal years things are looking up.
This will be our biggest gate of the season. Circa 18,000. If you are driving I would recommend Mereoak Park and ride which is just a mile off the M4 just follow signs to Basingstoke. Its then a filter off to the right. You can park for free and walk to the ground. Roughly a 25 min walk. Or you can get the bus to and from the stadium. I think its a tenner but there will be long queues to get the bus back after the game.
I think Saturday will be a cracker. We score and concede a lot and you have to win. Enjoy the game and travel safely.
What’s it like getting a train to and from Reading Green Park before and after the game?Hi everyone. Reading fan here. Just to confirm there will definitely not be any protests on Saturday. I will be in the Eamonn Dolan stand which is opposite the South Stand where you are likely to be. The South Stand is shared with our Club 1871 fans who will make plenty of noise on Saturday. It should be a cracking atmosphere.Looking forward to it. I have grandchildren in Woodley (all BFC fans of course) and have always enjoyed a day out at what was the Majedski. We'll give you a wave.
Takes double as long tho...If youre coming from or via London to Reading you can now get the Elizabeth Line from various tube stations direct to Reading. Indeed its free if you live in the London area and have a Freedom pass
Takes double as long tho...
Over 1500How many tickets have we sold?
It hasn't been confirmed yet, I suspect not given it looks like being their biggest attendance of the season.Potg?
Make sure we win because we know how much you lot hate OxfordI will be in the Eamonn Dolan stand which is opposite the South Stand where you are likely to be. The South Stand is shared with our Club 1871 fans who will make plenty of noise on Saturday. It should be a cracking atmosphere.
I'm liking this post! Our u21's have just qualified for Europe today. The atmosphere has massively improved at the Stadium in recent years. The introduction of Club 1871 in the South Stand has massively helped. This stand used to house away fans only but for around five years has been split with our louder fans and it has helped. The atmosphere will be great tomorrow.Just couldnt be playing Reading at a worse time. Sounds like they are a united bunch. 20,000+ in attendance Understand the atmosphere has improved ten fold in the past year. Since December one of the form team and new owners in attendance tomorrow. Sounds bizarre me saying this but i expect them to be one of the favourites for next season.
Paul Ince… blaming the players? Well, blow me!Yep he is popular. Unlike Paul Ince he hasn't thrown the players under the bus. He has remained calm throughout what has been a horrible season of points deductions, ongoing transfer embargo, winding up orders, staff not being paid, fire sale of some of our best young players who were key squad members and uncertainty about the club's very existence.
Ruben and his young squad have done us proud. I'm 60 on Saturday and have never seen us survive relegation from being in such a bad position in the League. Our fanbase has been energised and win or lose Ruben and the players will get plenty of cheers from us on Saturday.
Yep. I thought you would have a similar view!!Paul Ince… blaming the players? Well, blow me!
Their recent form, (last 4) not so great, plus I’m pretty sure the new alleged owners, haven’t as yet said they’ll be there tomorrow. Of course, this could change overnight and really counts for nothing, as I’m sure both teams will put on a decent Spanish ‘flavoured’ Season Finale, regardless.Just couldnt be playing Reading at a worse time. It was great once when Andy Bayes was talking to Ben Burgess on Radio Lancs a few years back when he was with us. We lost 11 on the bounce. Bayes said to BB ‘have you ever known a manager lose 11 on the bounce before Ben?’ He answered ‘Yes, Paul Ince when he was my manger at Notts County’Yep. I thought you would have a similar view!!
I can beat that (54years) 1970 away to Portsmouth won 3-2 and the king scored vital win in our promotion seasonwell done to a great away following todayOn our way. Must be 30 odd years since i’ve been on the official club coach but at £20 a pop can’t go wrong. It’s ok tbf.
