Just announced on SSN that he has died, aged 78.

Another one of the World Cup Winning squad of 1966 to leave us.

His aunt was a cleaner at Newton Heath Post Office where I worked in the late 50s.
Always saying things about 'our Nobby'. He was a young lad then.
Yes, she called him Nobby also.

Spent an afternoon stood with him on the sidelines watching a couple of youth games at Lilleshall as a teenager. He was casting his eye over a young lad called Ryan Wilson for Manchester United. Very pleasant and "normal" fella.

Great bloke, met him at a boxing do years ago, said I wished I’d known he was there I would of brought my 66 programme for him to sign, he said no problem son and wrote his address down, I posted it to him the next day and it was returned the day after duly signed. Can’t imagine many if any footballers these days giving there address to a random fan.

They showed one of his 'uncompromising' tackles on the news. Had a defender tackled like that now they would be straight off.interestingly, the game carried on and the forward got straight up, no rolling around.
